And then I threw wool rug yarn into the depleted dye pot to use up whatever is left in there! I won't get a true black, probably more like a purple when all is said and done, but can't let good dye go to waste when I will use yarn of pretty much any color eventually.

Ostrich feathers! If it looks like crap, I will try to dye the feathers, but I would prefer not doing that, as they have a wire core. All for a dressing gown, that no one will see except for me and my husband. Because someone made this. Someone loved this. And so it warrants loving attention.

The responsibility of bringing it back to the vision the OG owner had for it. I couldn't get the staining out without ruining the silk. So instead, we dye it. I will resew the lace in properly with black thread. And once the robe is dry, I will fit in on my dress form and resew on the still white

And had lace inserts haphazardly sewn into cut outs. And ostrich feathers on the shoulders! And a lace trim that made it about 4 inches too long for me, and I'm 5'9. Unfortunately, it also had red stains and sweat stains all along the collar. It took me years to feel brave enough to tackle

There are different kinds of fight.

I was sure I was going to be sick. Took some pepto and made it home. By the time we got home, I was so bloated, I looked pregnant. Still not entirely sure if I got gluten or if this extreme reaction was from the dairy. Only time will tell. Dairy clears up quick. Gluten takes at least 6 weeks. 😩😭

Went out to eat last night at one of the city's most GF friendly restaurants. I had two bites of cheese (which I usually avoid bc dairy gives me a face rash and makes me bloat... but if you have a chance to try burrito, I feel you must) 30 minutes later I was in agony, felt like I got gluten.

Never again.

He said united is good if you start out healthy on the policy. I laughed and said my kid was diagnosed while on United and it was a nightmare. Its unusable. I'd rather pay triple than deal with those monsters again. I won't do that to my employees. He graciously ended the call.

Had an insurance salesman call me yesterday to try to sell me cheaper health insurance for my employees. I like saving money, so I listened. He said he could save me 50%. I was interested. I asked which insurance company.

I almost burst into tears in the grocery store the other day. Because I was the only white person I could see in the very busy store, and it was beautiful and why I bought a home here and I am sad and scared for every single one of them.

Mining my friends groups for German language help for my kid so she can one day hope to escape this hellscape that is the US was not on my bingo card.

So unbelievably thankful for the help that is coming through for her, though. Humans have the capability to be amazing.

Managed to get the camping stuff from last weekend hung out, today. It would normally have been done as soon as I got home, but I was camping where invasive lantern flies are a problem. So I wanted to make sure I wasn't bringing any home, so I let my gear cook in my car all week. Not recommended

I need to plan an adventure, but the heat and rain have been terrible this summer...

I have 20 more State parks to go to before I can say that I have been to all of them... but this year, I have been revisiting ones I have already been to instead of going to new ones. 😂🤷‍♀️

If a sitting president can openly muse about arresting and disappearing someone who is likely to become mayor of the country's largest city, while also getting the funding for a massive secret police, it'd be hard to find sufficient evidence to qualify that country as a democracy.

Its a shame because I asked about IUDs after my first pregnancy, but since I couldn't afford to have it monitored without medicaid, dr.s said no. With just a little more support, the 2nd pregnancy would've been delayed until we were stable, and stability would've come sooner.

Healthcare. Even with Medicaid, I only got the bare minimum and the dr.s were not able or willing to go beyond the pregnancy.
