Just popping in for a second, I know it's been a while. I hope you've all been well. 💜

Oooh I didn't know that exists. I seem to move accounts every 5-10 years but the import has me thinking about importing some of my photos. 🤔

So far I feel like it's actually photos by humans. Idk if that's by the nature and size of the platform, or what the reason is. It feels like the bigger the platform, the more AI slop.

Honestly one of the most exhausting things about working in tech.

This multiplied by a billionty, if you're sitting on a pile of cash or you're an engineer working at a top tech firm and can afford to go risk doing something worthwhile, instead of pissing your life away to show us more ads, then this is where to invest your time and money instead.

Have any of the #modeltrains folks made it a goal of theirs to model and paint the 12+ designs of these that are out in the wild? I just need to know who's slutting it up. #trains

when I worked in an independent bookstore, the owner told me the most stolen book was one about getting your first period and if I saw anyone walking out with it, I should just let them go.

Looking through an arched brick bridge over the Rochdale canal outside of Hebden Bridge. The bricks are black with industrial soot and both the bridge and towpath are surrounded by greenery.

Looking further down the canal, surrounded by the old brick buildings and chimneys of Hebden Bridge and lined with canal boats and trees. Some of which were just starting to show their Autumn colours.

Looking out over cloudy skies and one of the many locks along the Rochdale canal. There's a wide, gravel towpath to the right and both sides of the canal are tree-lined. The lock is made with heavy hardwood components, made to withstand the pressure from the constant flow of water and boats.

I got my canal walk this weekend and the weather held out, though we also caught whatever illness is going around on the way home and now feel like shit. 😮‍💨 However enjoy some canal pics.

I did wonder if the potential for being wrong could play into it. The trains were extra busy today, due to some additional issues with trains between York and Doncaster today.

On a train today and I've noticed one of the differences between Brits and I. Even if someone is sitting in their seat, Brits will often debate even bringing it up, where I'm always the "American" just walking up saying, "I believe you're in my seat," and people just look at me shocked.

Yeah I forgot to mention that a lot of services now also have where you can transfer your playlists. (Though some do use third party services, so comes down to trust) If that helps.

I think companies finally realised the effort required to rebuild playlists often keeps people from making a switch!

I am curious why a service being in Europe is a negative? I've been trying to move all my services there, where I can.

I left Spotify a couple years ago now, for ethical reasons, for Tidal. (And yes, I'm aware no streaming platforms are really ethical.)

Then I have slowly been increasing the amount of physical and digital media I own, over time, to decrease my reliance on streaming platforms.
