Only hickory can defeat hickory.

The first-order implication is that developers need to do code review of generated code. The second-order implication is that developers will need to keep coding to maintain competence for code review. There's no free lunch.

Separately, generated code has no IP protections, so...

I’m not a fanbois, but I’m not a naysayer. I’m about three months away from losing patience with team members who struggle with debugging for days on end without thinking to employ an agent. The models are stupid, but they know everything and don’t get tired.

Timezone bugs are gonna πŸš€ with AI, tho.

I'm looking forward to Senior Claude that responds to all prompts with "It depends on what you're trying to do" followed by a Socratic dialogue that fills you with despair and results in no commits made, and to devastating corrections with light-hearted sangfroid, e.g., "ah, well, so it goes."

It makes me think I should just buy a new faucet it instead, and to accept that faucets are now coffee-makers, disposable things that stop working after a few years.

My upstairs bathroom faucet (you may recall from your time in Wisconsin that a "tap" is another word for a tavern) leaks. Apparently modern day faucets have "cartridges" and cartridges go bad after a few years? A replacement costs a fair bit, and the plumber more.
