Their sycophantic amusement at his ridiculous stunts, such as the zip wire episode; at the state of his (actually carefully cultivated) disheveled appearance; & his regular appearances on Have I Got News For You 1998 onwards frankly made me sick. They facilitated him.

The thing is, most of us knew the essence of the stories about Farage many years ago - but the media still had a complete love-in with him, and the BBC built him up relentlessly.
