Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago. The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

If you strongly believe in a cause, then you have to take the steps necessary to advance the cause and not just steps that express how you feel.

If you lined up all the people in the country Ezra Klein is probably in the top 15/20% for most progressive, Joe Manchin is in top 45/50%. If you are incapable of listening to these people you have cocooned yourself to a degree that is unhealthy.

My small country, Estonia, population 1.3 million sent 2003-2014 over 2500 soldiers. 9 were killed in the line of duty. 109 wounded, half of them so seriously they could no longer lead a normal life.

In Iraq 2003-2009 we had more than 440 soldiers. 2 were killed. 18 seriously wounded.

Switched from zsh to fish shell a few months ago. It has been mostly great, but two main annoyances stand out:

* No {} or similar for string interpolation. foo_"$bar"_baz sucks.
* Universal variables are a terrible idea. Even though I don't use them, some builtins use them under the hood.
