Mamdani: "We can respond to oligarchy and authoritarianism with the strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves. After all, if anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him."

Absolutely, I also see it as the result of continaly spreading the culture of indivualsim, which stands in contrast to military culture of teamwork and standardisation. Now we have everyone personalising their kit and thinking they're some kind of SOF. Seen it at many units I served in.

I hope as my MP you'll do what you can to get your leadership and party to do the right thing. Stop pandering to these fascists and far right thugs.

2000 Meters to Andriivka review โ€“ war in Ukraine as an eerie, pin-sharp waking nightmare In his heartwrenching followup to 20 Days in Mariupol, photojournalist Mstyslav Chernov is embedded with the 3rd Assault Brigade during a gruelling counteroffensive

Just went to see the Ukraine war documentary, 2000 mtrs to Andriivka. I really recommend it, although it's a brutal watch. I thought my experiences in Iraq and Afghan were something, but this was another level. Brutal warfare and heartbreaking to see the losses.

Sure, Rubio could be exaggerating, but then seeing how little we, the public, know of official estimates, that figure could also be true. Who knows, apart from some select Russians.

Rightwing populists will keep winning until we grasp this truth about human nature | George Monbiot Economic inequality breeds resentment and a desire to get even. Thatโ€™s what fuels support for even incompetent regimes, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

It's a straightforward relationship: high #inequality leads to the triumph of the far right. It will keep winning until governments deliberately seek to make societies more equal. I'm looking at you, Keir Starmer.

I don't think the takeaway from that should be, what can we do to please them. I think they'll just find something else to bash/moan/disregard Europeans on.
