If a "strong economy" can coincide with—or indeed create—record homelessness and insecurity, then maybe it's time for a change in terminology.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

Hard to see @schumer.senate.gov being able to stay in leadership after this or in the senate, he was not the man for this moment

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you do not keep the government shut for more than a month and then NOT get a deal on the main item you have been messaging on without completely shifting the blame dynamic.

The Democratic Senators who caved tonight OWN this with the Republicans.

In March, after Schumer last surrendered, we called an emergency meeting of Indivisible leaders. 92% told us to call on him to step down from leadership (which we did).

In a poll over this weekend, 98.67% said we should keep up the fight.

Caving now will teach Trump and Republicans that they can win any fight simply by threatening to cause terrible harm to regular people. no possible way that could have future adverse consequences

Agreeing to this deal demands a primary challenge.

It's really not that hard. Vote no tonight and tomorrow morning use your regional offices to distribute food and resources to your constituents. You can protect your people without throwing them under the bus.

One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!

That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

If your position is that Democrats have no choice but to agree, than you are impliedly admitting the Democrats are no longer an opposition party because the cost of opposition is too high, and we are effectively a one party fascist state.

THIS is leadership!

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.

if they were going to cave anyway they should’ve done it a week ago to spare SNAP recipients the agony.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

Reaching out to friends and family in the appropriate states to get them to call their senators tonight. You should do the same!

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Just left a voicemail for Sen. Kristen Gillibrand opposing Dem senators who cave on ACA. Tried Sen. Schumer’s office too but they apparently don’t want to hear from constituents — there was no voicemail option.
