A close-up photo of a custom LEGO-style display celebrating a graduation. The display features a blue and white sign with “The Open University” logo and the text: “Congratulations Lou Robinson, BSc (Hons) Geology.” Next to the sign is a LEGO minifigure with long orange hair wearing a black graduation cap and gown. The minifigure is holding three small, tile-like certificates: one says “University of Bricks BSc (Hons) Open Degree,” another reads “University of Bricks BSc (Hons) Geology,” and the last one says “University of Bricks PGCE Primary 5-11 with QTS.” The background includes shelves with indistinct objects.
Cramming microscope hours, mapping, writing, museum volunteering & maths around a 9-5 job was absolutely exhausting. I can’t thank my friends, colleagues and tutors enough for their support and patience over the last 4 years. The Open University is truly incredible and has changed my life 💙

13 years ago I left my Russell Group Chemistry course with nothing to show for it. Undiagnosed Autism/ADHD tried to end me & I couldn’t afford to resit, so I left.
Yesterday, I accepted ANOTHER first class degree. This time, I finally got my science degree (a better science too 🤪)

Well it seems I best get started on my interpretive choreography of the geological timescale. Careful what you promise when you’re so bogged down with your degree you think it won’t end 😂

I do a lot of volunteering but what on Earth is a company making millions in profit doing offering unpaid work at all?!

*took I no longer have TMAs 🎉 Forgot I was free for a second 🤣 The anxiety-induced lack of sleep because both my apprenticeship and coding programme very kindly booked end assessments within 72 hours of my degree result is serving me well this week.

AWS messed up your day? I was once in charge of a summer programme on a very rural campsite where I had to announce to a field of over 80 16-17 year olds that they would lose their Snapchat streaks and no we wouldn’t run them out on the minibuses to preserve it 🤣 That was a WILD day at work.

Cancelled my @geolsoc.bsky.social and @royalastrosoc.bsky.social student memberships. End of an era (my bank account can’t manage a postgraduate course) but highly recommend both to undergraduate students, the extra resources and events have complemented my studies brilliantly

Today I found out the answer!

A person is sitting on grass outdoors, with their legs stretched out in front of them. They are wearing black Crocs decorated with charms and colorful purple leggings with a pink pattern. Resting on their lap is a book titled “Bringing Back the Beaver” by Derek Gow. To the right, there is a white mug with a pattern, containing a drink. The background features lush green trees and foliage, suggesting a peaceful, natural setting.
Using all my annual leave for study isn’t all bad 🥰 Chilling by the pond in the sunshine. Typical that my one year without fieldwork the weather is flawless 🤣 I promise not to go on fieldwork again #OpenUniversity

I’m guessing one of:
1) They drink water from a mug and see if you recoil in horror
2) They turn on one of those cat/loitering teenager sound deterrent things and see if you grimace in pain
3) They make you apply suncream
4) They make you stop a microwave

Seriously? What was wrong with visiting museums, long walks & crochet?

38 days and I’ve got 2 TMAs, a 3500 word poster and a 4.5 hour exam to fit in alongside a full time apprenticeship and lab work to collect my results for my research project. Updating my ‘Materials and Methods’ to include significant quantities of caffeine and questioning of my life choices

She doesn’t need to be 😐 She says it herself they’d vote for a donkey here if you stuck a blue rosette on it - I’m sure many of her voters don’t know who she is. At least 2 people (overheard in a shop) voted for Haselhurst last year…he’s been gone since 2018(?) More than one election anyway 🤣

A LEGO model of a pheasant, built with brown, tan, and green bricks, is placed among green plants and purple flowers in a woodland setting.
The best thing about making Lego a special interest is you can build everything else that captures your interest 😂 Found this fab design & all the bricks to build the pheasant who visits our garden.
(Built him months ago, sharing now to remind myself what free time looks like - must be exam time 💔)

TMA02 will be finished today - 1 week ahead of the deadline. No crochet, no videos of pheasants being edited to dance to Shakira, no bike rides that take me on a 14-mile pub trip & absolutely no Kindle. Posting to hold myself accountable because my annual leave is almost up 😭
