This is what speaking truth to power looks like. Like so many millennials I’m not watching late night so hadn’t seen the monologue until after the news. Even without my views Colbert leads the ratings BY FAR so it’s hard to see how this isn’t the height of “cancel culture.”

I’ve been a sustaining member of KNKX for a couple years, and upped my monthly contribution at the beginning of this administration. I fear for our democracy without trusted media outlets like NPR and hope you consider donating whatever you can to keep local reporting alive.

Others have said it, but I feel the need to echo it: please donate to your local PBS and NPR stations today. Puget Sound's KUOW now has a $1.4 million-dollar funding gap, and it's probably one of the better-resourced stations. This is a death blow to what remains of the free press.

I recently learned on a field trip with the kiddo that the Twulshootseed (the indigenous language of the Puyallup tribe of where I call home) word for July is pədgʷədbixʷ which means “time of blackberries” which is so beautiful. Spending this lovely day getting berry stained.

Yesterday our group saw a bald eagle in the Gig Harbor area which got us talking about the increasing bald eagle sightings we’ve all seen. Made me wonder if it’s an increasing population or loss of habitat pushing them to more populated areas. Seems like their population really is growing (yay!)
