Kinda tired because I ran for my life to catch the 709 home so I didn’t have to wait another half an hour for the next bus -.-

- Includes student and faculty housing
- South County Higher Education Task Force is working to create a report addressing the academic needs of students in the region, due 2027

- 383 acres of land reserved in East Chula Vista for a 4 year university
- Campus will offer programs from partner universities instead of being affiliated with one state system (currently with SDSU and CSUSM)
- Anticipated to create a new job center in the South Bay

Currently will be attending a meeting with California Assemblymember David Alvarez on the state of higher education in the South Bay, including a new 4-year university in southeast Chula Vista.

I’ll take some notes.

There were originally proposals for a trolley line transversing the the South Bay in the original Otay Ranch General Plan, however this fell apart due to NIMBY pushback. Instead, we got the Rapid 225, which isn’t being held up to BRT standards, having poor frequencies and local transit connections.

California will take a closer look at bringing a public university campus to Chula Vista A local university has been a decades-long dream for officials in San Diego County’s second-largest city.

I'm going to Alvarez's address on this next Saturday. My main concern is public transit; if Chula Vista is going to build a university, they must build a Trolley line too. You can't have one without the other, especially in a region that already lacks sufficient transit. Rapid 225 isn't enough.

Interestingly, despite both the 707 and 709 having the same destination, the destination announcements always say “Otay Ranch Town Center” on the 707, whereas the 709 is “Olympic Pkwy/Eastlake Pkwy”

Also, please move the stops closer to the Rapid 225 station please. It’s kinda inconvenient as/is…

Decided to detour a little and took the 707 to Otay Ranch Town Center.

Seats were comfy on the electric bus. MTS should invest in more Xcelsiors in the South Bay.
