The bird is black headed with a rusty chest and white below that. It is facing the viewer, with its head slightly turned to the left. Perched on top of a slender twig to gain the best view for flying insects. The background is out of focus brown plants.

Following from the earlier picture of the female Stonechat, here is a male. He's similarly perched on top of an impossibly small twig.

Wetlands are the best!!! The bird is also gorgeous!!

Black bird with vivid yellow chest and head is perched on a brown cattail stem. The bird's head is thrown back as it calls. There is a second similar bird in the background, out of focus: a neighbour declaring its territory.
