I did some intense research and found legitimate reasons for Bluesky to verify @jcsalterego.bsky.social, the chatbots are confused. Also this LLM is clearly bad, not only is it trying to steal Jerry's job (spreading misinformation) but it doesn't even refer to the underlying issue as "Jerrification"

It's the top left one ("the end of the dog" with the fleas):

- bottom of the page is closer to his body (like page 51) so we can reason he's looking at the top half of the page.

- head & neck are more oriented toward the top-left of page

- fastest comic to comprehend with distracting photographer

I'm now wondering if doing this trick with the toms would have fixed it. But it simply never would have occurred to us! Mixing down all the kits mic's was the initial idea, trying to do the opposite of samples in my DM5 drum brain etc.

We did the production really well imo, but it never sounded quite right to us, sort of an uncanny valley. Probably not enough swing in the MIDI programming, but I always thought it sounded to "distant" even with the room mics mixed out....

OK, rad! So, before the era of BFD a friend (drummer, engineer with studio / lots of mic) and I recorded a kit for samples where each drum's sample was a mixdown of all the mics (including room mics) in an attempt at realism loading these into my sampler....

(fwiw: one of the reasons that meager setup worked was because the final live mix went through a huge compressor made for radio as a mandatory late-stage treatment of the signal chain before broadcast, so it was all pretty forgiving)

Interesting! Is it maybe due to the mics or something else? Context: I'm not a drummer but I mic'ed bluegrass / folk bands weekly for a show at my undergrad radio station, on a shoe-string mic budget: 2 overhead pencil condensers, a bass drum mic, and maybe an SM57 on the snare if I had one to spare

Thanks for reminding, life was lifing too much then & still haven't seen it. The anime inspo is cool, and maybe it benefitted from a short run (as in, some of the best reviewed anime series of all time were intentionally capped at a couple seasons, ending up with a complete well-written story arc)
