Writing a scenario pack of @fromthemorgue.bsky.social brilliant #FiveEvil RPG from @handiworkgames.bsky.social, and was shocked to find my writing contains:
A secret bunker!
Cold War experiments!
Dodgy civil servants!
Fungal mutations!
I'm just as startled as anyone by this.
Shocking! Unexpected! Who could have foretold!

Wellington people: want to try a larp? A larp about a weird, 1920's magic carnival? A friend of mine is running a little game in February: carnival-arcane.lilregie.com/booking/atte...

Such laudable politics! If only Democrats had such love for their country!
Love Gardnerβs Grendel, i return to it every decade or so. It helps that itβs short!
I would also point at the BEOWULF AGE OF HEROES game from @handiworkgames.bsky.social for the mythic mode, loaded with meadhalls and portents.

Thank you! It went through many iterations to get there, Iβm very happy with it

That is a very good question
23.11.2025 02:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I actually have a bit of dislike for it too :/ I used it anyway because it seemed to convey the demographic group i was considering. But you're right to give it the side-eye. I certainly mean no disrespect.
23.11.2025 01:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0For mine, i'll stay on Facebook, and keep reacting positively to good content where i see it, particularly in the community-based groups. And wait for someone to find a better strategy.
23.11.2025 01:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Does this mean all the hate comments under the news posts aren't actually that important, because the community groups show more accurately where we are? I don't think so. My guess is dominance of one reaction on the big news posts does spread that reaction around, slowly by steadily.
23.11.2025 01:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A generic RNZ post just floats in the ether, disconnected from my neighbourhood and my everyday life, and so it becomes a target for the abstracted political reckons of the very agitated.
But in the community group, it's about what's right outside my door and I will cheerfully weigh in on that.
But the engagement profile is different in community groups. e.g. here in the Hutt, posts in the community FB group get some bigots and weirdos, but most of the reaction is pretty considerate, if frequently underinformed.
We want our own community to be accepting and kind and will make it known??
The one ray of light i see is that the community FB groups, by all reports I've seen, seem to consistently have a much more dominant strain of sensible reactions and less tolerance for the hate bombers.
And that's saying something, because the community groups can be very weird indeed.
None of this is news to anyone, i know, but it's once again stuck in my head. I can't see an effect counterstrategy. System-level responses aren't going to happen with the tech lords ascendant, grassroots post-by-post reactions seem hopelessly inadequate, and doing nothing just ensures it spreads.
23.11.2025 01:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Paranoid, angry, fearful emotion drives engagement and the Facebook ecosystem is perfect for this to be cultivated into an identity, which is in turn cemented by spreading the message.
Much, much harder to build an agitant Facebook messaging army around "calm down, you're overreacting".
