It’s really fucking hard, but I try not to be a total doomer about it. We’ve made steps in the right direction before, and we can do it again. Fixing everything all at once is rarely ever an option (even if it should be).

But it is wise to have a strategy that ensures your actions are going to build that popular and political support. But the fear is that using extrajudicial violence as a means to build support won’t lead to less overall violence but more.

In order to deem a β€œnew” type of violence as unacceptable and worthy of punishment, you need popular and political support which you rarely get through these types of extrajudicial measures. Which isn’t to say action outside of β€œapproved” methods isn’t valuable…

It’s true that there can be a disparity. β€œThe state monopoly on violence” is true and the state deems that type acceptable. The other disparity is the β€œsolution” to stopping that violence….

It could theoretically prove insightful since different states legalized it at different points in time.

Has anybody mapped opinions of the economy with the rollout of sports gambling apps? Would be curious if there is any correlation

I initially joined in January but didn’t come back til a few days ago, it’s getting close to having the juice. It’s premature to write it off as a lib-haven but doesn’t yet fully scratch that 2021 Twitter itch

These types of opinions quoted below are even more outlandish when you explain the Twitter changes neutrally: The platform was overhauled to change the types of posts and interactions between users (everyone agrees this happened!) Millions of users preferred the original experience so they left.

Spotting fake posts by people posing as your political opponents is an underrated skill. No one can be perfect, but seeing who falls for them is a decent metric for identifying who you should trust.

This is implying that SCOTUS concerns about executive overreach from the past 4 years will disappear and suddenly a 6 member majority will decide that the President has broad discretion to do whatever regardless of Congressional permission.

Not one to defend Hochul but her plan seemed to have worked. No? Draw a β€œhard line” to benefit some Dem seats, then implement immediately after the election. Couldn’t admit it or she would be giving away the game.
