I think it is real clear which is the moderate and popular position here, but right wingers simplify it down to "no Medicaid for illegals" because they know it is a popular rallying cry.

-Revoke the current law (signed by Ronald Reagan, but conservatives apparently hate him now) that ERs have to admit all individuals regardless of their legal or housed status, and just let them die in the streets I guess.

-Remove the subsidies, return the cost to insurance providers and individual hospital visitors, causing a huge health cost inflation.

-We keep the subsidies, which flows Medicaid money towards the ER's and helps offset costs. This reduces the premiums and hospital costs. This is their original purpose BTW.

This does included undocumented people but also includes unhoused people and someone who might just not have their information on them given it is, you know, an emergency.

As far as I can see it there are three options here.

The craziest part about it is Bessent just saying the quiet part out loud. "It sucks American farmers are being used as pawns, but thankfully they voted for our guy, so we'll have their back." Reverse that and assume the opposite.

Someone needs to do a counter on how many times the concept of "the enemy within" appears throughout this ramble. Because this is a de facto declaration of war against the US's own citizens.

Exactly. We need to get back to recognizing that individual acts of violence are the responsibility of those individuals, but we are all so quick to scramble and determine if our "team" is responsible.

They have to make sure it is clear he isn't one of their guys, and to make clear that the Left is lying about it. Every event, from the Super Bowl Halftime show to mindless violence, gets sucked up into the ideological warfare they are engaged in.

But that isn't how Twitter Brain works. Everyone fits into two boxes (Left or Right) and all their actions are in fact a reflection directly of their movement. That's why it is important for Right Wingers to not just condemn the shooter's actions.

But this shooting I think barely qualifies as "political" violence. It was a horrific event, that came from someone from a specific political ideology. But I think the facts on the ground suggest the violence itself wasn't political.

And the left does this too, for the record. Swalwell's post stinks of trying to gain political capital, in response to weeks and weeks of the right wing attempting to paint political violence as a distinctly left wing problem.

This is especially valid because this is the exact behavior they accused Jimmy Kimmel of to try to get him FCCed off the air. But they do it, knowingly trying to paint any sort of violence as always left wing. All violence is just points to score for them.

This whole thing has really given up the game on the Right Wing's framing of violence and how politics shapes it. They are going out of their way to lie about what the shooter's political identity is, rather than just condemning it.

This rules and I kind of don't care if it's true or she is trolling.

Worth noting, I also saw it in D-Box, which ruled. The final car chase especially was really heightened.

Saw One Battle After Another last night and I think the process of hearing it hyped to the moon gave me a more guarded response. It is extremely good, but not my favorite of the year (still Sinners), let alone the decade. It probably ranks number three in my personal PTA, after TWBB and Magnolia.

Now that the top level revelation of what is happening on Peacemaker has occurred, I think one of the more important and understated parts is how oblivious Chris was to the horror, because he was part of the protected/celebrated class.
