Creating habitat and home for nature from industrial sand and gravel extraction. It has been an amazing transformation over the years with more and more birdlife using the wetlands, even a pair of nesting Bitterns! @northcavewet.bsky.social @yorkswildlife.bsky.social

The sad saga of the Hen Harrier continues. A red listed bird is persecuted so that people can shoot grouse for fun and DEFRA continue to be impotent when it comes to dealing with this wildlfe crime.

Two Hen Harrier chicks calling and looking at the camera

When four breeding male Hen Harriers suspiciously disappeared from nests in May, two from RSPB Geltsdale and two from the Forest of Bowland, it was clear the females would struggle to raise their chicks alone.

The odds were bleak.

I think most people would prefer water companies to be renationalised again. They have shown themsleves to be greedy awarding themsleves with fat bonuses while taking many shortcuts. This Labour government is not brave enough to take on corporate greed or tackle bad governance & management.

This is why our community is fighting to save wild sprat, and will never give up.

They're the crucial bedrock on which entire natural ecosystems are built.

That is such a valid point and it seems that no protest or words cristising the horror that is happening in Gaza are allowed at the moment. The is such a mess.

The female do not move much, hence it is the males who are normally seen

A way to engage local communities by taking a regeneerative approach to the economy and planning dor that city. There are some big cities already doing this eg Barcelona, Mexico and Glasgow. Ths UK needs some braver politicians in this country to do this instead of same old same old..

Let's talk about these two department store owners: brother and sister Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld. From Newark, New Jersey.

They are random people, basically. But in the late 1920s, with fascism taking over Europe, they made a choice that profoundly changed the world: 🧡

When excellent MPs stand up for what’s right and then get suspended by their party we should be very worried. Chris Hinchliff has been a staunch defender of nature and is far closer to the public view than the prime minster. Such arrogance 😑. Great quote here from Craig Bennett, agree πŸ’― .
