When the devs say the "protocol" doesn't allow for something, what they mean is they don't feel like doing the extra work that is clearly possible because they HAVE done it in the past.

When they claim the protocol doesn't allow it, I don't believe them because clearly they DID find a way to private lists--just on their own end as a censorship mechanism.

It was the same with DMs--a feature added AROUND the protocol. They CAN work around it if they so choose.

I'm so mad about the private lists thing, personally. I've been screaming for this feature for over a year because I keep getting harassed for my lists, which I use just for myself as a memory aid. They say they can't do private lists because of ATProto, but they turned around & made it a punishment
