good news folks I think trimet is cooking with the swag this year

Clearly TriMet has something in mind if their Forward Together 2.0 Teal Line is any indication.

Gateway would be the main issue and would require a rework but aside from that the rest of the system should be able to handle it. I’m just spitballing because I know there’s no money to rework Gateway, but it would be a project that has the ability to majorly improve the entire system.

Sure there’d be a forced transfer at Gateway for people looking to head into Portland from PDX or Clackamas, but I feel like doubling the frequency systemwide would be worth it.

Y’know if TriMet ran the green and red lines as a single through-running east side line you could actually free up capacity on the system for 7 1/2 minute headways everywhere.

Our bus and rail system have good bones and with a handful of solid improvement projects it could be doing even better than it was pre-COVID. But instead the state is throwing more money at ODOT for their $10s of billions worth of freeway projects.

Dallas still sucks, I hate that place and Portland will always be better, but it’s very sad to see the state let TriMet face a slow death through stagnation and service cuts. We could be doing so much better.

Kinda mad that Dallas gets a new rail line after I move away yet here in Portland (supposedly a “good transit city”) nothing for over a decade now.

It really weighs on a person to narrowly miss watching someone die right in front of them. Yet here I am having those close calls every day because people are too impatient to just cross where they’re supposed to or at least see my train and wait for me to pass.

I am begging people to stop crossing the chains on Interstate. Every day someone almost gets themselves killed doing it and I’m so tired of having close calls like that.

Colorado's Bustang system is perhaps the best model for a western state bus system. Oregon and Washington should look at it as a model. The system has been incredibly successful because service drives ridership!

If Oregon funded POINT at the same per-capita rate it'd cost us ~$48million a year.

Looks like if you remove the bike lane buffers it allows enough space to make the road 4 general purpose lanes. I think WashCo might be trying to sneak in some “future proofing” in case they need to “fix traffic” at some point.
