@ukhadds What do they mean by “two infectious doses per hour”?
Recently, I posted a link to an article discussing how well masks work at limiting airborne disease transmission. Gillian read the link and asked the following question.
This gets to a critical issue I thought I’d discuss.

It doesn't matter if they are ever coming for you.
It was always ever already too much that they were coming for anyone.

‘Death or food’: The Palestinians killed by Israel at Gaza’s aid centres
Palestinians still flock to Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid sites, even after hundreds are killed by Israeli forces.
Imagine that life, that world.
Do I die or do I eat? Do I die if I dare to eat? How can I not die to feed my children?
There is no excuse for failing to say this is wrong, this is criminal, this is the epitome of inhumanity, this must end. No excuse.

Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning
Drowning is not the violent, splashing call for help that most people expect.
Thanks for the reminder @janemunday.bsky.social. Every summer, I repost this article DROWNING DOES NOT LOOK LIKE DROWNING. To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.

When Nashville SC defeated Charlotte FC on Saturday, the supporters section lacked its usual verve and had visible gaps throughout the risers.
The reason was explained in a pair of large white banners.

…together we can do so much.
“But if the children actually belong to Sackets Harbor, if respected, dedicated and persistent local women had drawn the borders of the town in a way that clearly enveloped “our kids,” then uprooting the children from their home might be a more perilous endeavor.”

Four lessons for justice beyond the ballot box
Trump’s attacks on Canada have taken the oxygen out of the election conversation. By hijacking very real economic anxieties, urgent issues have been sidelined in favour of tariff talk.
Many BIPOC organizers have turned away from party politics to focus on building power at the community level. But these efforts are not peripheral: they are the building blocks of a just future that will benefit everyone, says researcher @verosioufi.bsky.social.

Without scientist Kseniia Petrova’s expertise, no one can fully unlock the data’s potential, putting crucial advancements in early cancer detection at risk.

Not unique, actually much later than New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, (Sept) and areas in Quebec (October) and Ontario (November). Nova Scotia even required masking in summer 2024 due to increased covid and whooping cough and removed the mandate for an only a few weeks before reinstating it.

Imagine if all those who are silent about the terrible evil being committed in Gaza spoke up | Owen Jones
No crime in history has been so well documented by its victims. And yet inaction and censorship reign, says Guardian columnist Owen Jones
In every atrocity in history, the silent are always principal players.
Those who remain silent over Israel's genocide are enabling it to continue.
Their cowardice is paid in the blood of thousands of innocent Palestinians.

Israel broke the ceasefire. It shouldn't be so hard for the world to condemn this
Renad, an 11-year-old girl from Gaza, posted a message on her Instagram story yesterday. It read: "I'm scared."
She was living through Israel breaking the ceasefire and killing hundreds of Palestinians, including children.
This is wrong. Why is that so hard for our media and politicians to say?

Racialized communities in BC experienced 10x the mortality than white communities. Well more than the 3x rate in Ontario and Quebec.
