why does the New York Times need a PR account? y'all have an entire newspaper for your pedophilia and genocide defense

There's something deeply pathetic & petty about one of the biggest msn papers coming to whine about the percieved unfair treatement in the comments of a small indie outlet that represents the structurally disadvantaged victims of the global hate campaign that the NYT supports.

I noticed that after the shoddy Emily Bazelon NYT magazine piece a few years ago, the AAP released a report to counter some of the misinformation in it:

That's not really true though. If you're feeling sensitive about the public perception of your trans coverage, perhaps you should hire a trans reporter to cover it more accurately than your current reporters are capable of.

The NYT is and always has been the paper of power protection

Much of the trans community never goes beyond HRT because:
A. Surgery has long wait times and immense cost
B. Many people are satisfied with just HRT

The most common surgery for transfem folks is the orchiectomy which is removal of the testicles without any additional reshaping.

After NYT misleadingly portrayed it as a big shift, someone from the AMA (very possibly the same person) spoke to other journalists, shifted the language slightly, and recast the statement in terms of continuity, stressing that surgeries are better left to adulthood unless there's serious need.

What it looks like to me is someone from the AMA gave a comment to the New York Times that represents a slight, but real, diminishment of support for trans youth surgery. NYT then seems to have portrayed it as a much larger departure than it was.
