You're going to need a Benz, Toyota or "old car" specialist nearby.
You can choose the one you prefer but a forty to fifty year old car is going to let you down.
You'll need an established relationship with a good indie specialist for that model or it will have a lot of downtime.

I don't think the "made without passion" point is very persuasive because the products are (with few exceptions) intended to be white goods, conveyance appliances.
If the people who don't care whether they drive an EV or ICE car go EV, it leaves more scope for ICE preference among enthusiasts.

For different reasons than yours, I was going also to say the first gen IS.
It did all of Ze German things but the quality was so much better.
