I think it’s also about the way it was done. Back then, Star Trek was insightful, thought-provoking and you never felt like they were trying to push an agenda. It was about humans in the future, seen in an optimistic way. But you do have a point that today it would probably be received differently.

Yeah, I’m a big fan of clipping masks too.
I find it a bit hard to work with watercolor, even digitally, lol!
So, more power to you for trying (and succeeding!).
