Obviously, yes. At the beginning of my incubus story, Matteo hasn't told Cherine. He's not supposed to expose the existence of the supernatural world. She finds out because she is a friend who cares about him. They become #aromantic besties and roommates.

Took until my 30s to find my life rhythm, so there's definitely a journey involved.

Makes sense. There's a lot of ways teasing, however kindly meant, can go wrong.

For my Incubus WIP, Matteo and Cherine's best friends are each other, and I never really developed other people for their circle. Perhaps a lack of author imagination, or maybe they don't let people get close. It's still a WIP for a few days more, so I'll see if that needs changing.

Most of my friends prefer one close friend because the author (me) finds it more difficult to write large friend groups and keep everything understandable on the page.

It's a cozy paranormal. If that's not a real genre, it should be! There is a sapphic romance in it, but it's not the main engine that drives the story. Mostly it's about a new found-family.

In my Incubus WIP, the violence is more siphoning sexual energy without permission. As far as I know, it's not a story that has lots of violence.

The story I've got out on 8/27 had a LOT of violence at one point, but got toned down because it wasn't believable enough. Sadly (?)

I appreciate that you specified emotional danger. That made me feel better even if I don't always do physical danger for my people. I do, but I don't like them maimed. In my longer form stories (like the werewolf ones) they definitely get emotional battle scars. Guess I'm doing it ok

My most dangerous creature in my WIP might be the FMC, Cherine. She's a trained chef so skilled with a knife that the incubus MMC thinks she's actually an assassin when they first meet.

The dangerous environment for him is their hometown. He can't get any sexual energy to feed.

#LateNightWrite I know writers who love hurting their characters and say you're not a real writer until you can put them in danger. I get that. I'm not there yet, but I get it. Of course, it could be the genres and tone that I usually write, too. I'm generally more optimistic and funny. Mostly.

BUT, I have a series with a werewolf violinist who becomes a luthier. He's going to go through a LOT before I'm done with him, and I wondered if he should lose some fingers.

I'm writing a short story this week.
I'm going to tackle #TheIncubusAndTheChef again, but differently. For one thing, the POV will be the Chef's. Also, I'm going old school by writing it longhand in a notebook. Friend gave me a new notebook and pen Saturday, so it's spiffy!

When I decided to make the change, I thought it would just be the members of the biker gang who'd get hurricane names because they *are* _the_ Hurricanes. But then everyone got them!

Doesn't take much to amuse authors, but it did take me a while to pick new names from the lists.

Day 4 countdown to #TheHandymaamAndTheWerewolves (out August 27th)

In the first draft (Aug/Sept 2020), I had Laura, Rita, and the Hurricanes biker gang. In revisions, the rest of the #CharacterNames all changed names to those of an Atlantic hurricane. It remembers Laura that hit Louisiana 8/27/20.

Those are really striking covers!

This looks like fun, and it's not that much money if you want to pay for professional development.

I read it in a lesbian romance a year or two ago and thought the term was funny. I'm a fan of wordplay. I added it in recent revisions because I like it that much. It's what the werewolves call Laura.
