1. Read a chapter a day of beta challenge #1 (6 chapters left)
2. Make a plan to finish the beta for challenge #2 (Need the author's deadline info)
3. Make revision notes for scenes 2-4 in Venom.

There is more I want to do, but I'm trying to leave it on things I can accomplish.

Bringing this over from Instagram. I wanted to do a post every odd-numbered day about the different languages I've studied. Being an indie author, my characters are often multilingual and usually better at their languages than I am.

In order of attempt, Spanish was my first "foreign" language.

I got myself a lifetime subscription to Pimsleur languages for Black Friday. For the record, I've studied to some degree 10* of the 51 languages it offers.

*European Portuguese and Tagalog were truly beginner-level, but I'm counting them here.

Anyway, it says my Finnish accent is so-so. Unfair!

I haven't wanted to write lately, and my struggle is restarting and getting back into writing. When I'm in the zone, I can easily write a short story during the rest of the days this long weekend.

So what have you got for how to get in the flow again?

Reading has been SO GOOD!
I'm 2/3 through a beta of an upcoming fantasy novel by @hopemcpherson.bsky.social , and I'm 10% through a cool MM vampire story from @dannyechase.bsky.social that is going to be so popular. Great pieces.

I'm in the USA, but I'm happily home alone right now. Just resting. It's been needed. It's nice to be able to do a chat uninterrupted and not leave before it's over (as I've been doing lately).

Inkd Publishing has a submission call for the theme of Phantom Dusk, and I was inspired by a song by New Zealand musician Tim Finn (Walk You Home) and then another one by Australian band Icehouse (Goodnight, Mr. Matthews). It's all vibes. Needs a noncorporeal element, so a song!
