I'd know a Hopper anywhere
Why do I love Hopper paintings?
Truly I don't know why. His style and technique are not what I usually would consider great, but there is just something about his works that capture the quiet sadness of the human condition.
Even those with no humans in them.
AMAZING!
Did I ask you last week if you were coming out with a collection of these?
Because they are very good!
(If this has already been asked and answered, please forgive me - my memory has been failing me these days)

in the way you
lay claim to the cracks
they burrowed into
your brittled bones
oh, love
you’ve been this fragile
for such a long time now
and there’s poetry
in that too

The @nytimes.com has definitely gone to shit as a media outlet. Complete waste of space, for sure.
But I give them a pass on El Salvador, because no one in the USA truly understands ES unless they have been directly, personally affected by the gang violence/civil war.
Oh yes! One of your best
This is oh so lovely!
My fingers smell like ocean
on an August afternoon.
She's like that, all salt
spray and coves, gulls
screaming over waves crash,
a swell, the tide, one
peeking periwinkle.
I have sand where
there shouldn't be sand.

A gray tabby cat with white paws, belly, chest and nose lounges on a checkerboard quilt in shades of blue, green, gray, and brown. Her large green eyes gaze into the middle distance. She is illuminated by the last of the day's light, like a Renaissance painting of a saint in the presence of God. She is probably thinking about treats.

Internet is down at my home office, so I’m at the public library working. Libraries are the freaking best! Cool, cozy, working technology, quiet. Libraries, man. They rock.

"It was charm that got her, but it's my sense of humor that keeps her with me," Charlie said to everyone at the table.
Marissa quickly replied, "To be honest, his jokes are corny, but what keeps me is his humility."
"Now we know who has the humor of the pair," said their host.
