Complex Argument

It's frustrating. I want to say "trans women are women and you have no right to exclude them", but then, because they tied their safety and identity to their anti-trans hatred, they hear "fuck your safety and identity!"

I find the conversation much more productive by re-separating those conditions.

For sure! I see it as a hybrid.

"I'm disgusted by trans people" (unfair) tied to "I'm afraid of sexual assault" (fair) expressed as "Keep them out of my bathroom!"

I try to affirm their safety need, while drawing a hard line on trans exclusion. Tends to reduce identity damage + outrage.

Falkner's entire personality is hating trans people.

Other GC people have different reasons for the position they hold. Some of them more understandable to me than others.

But I can only reasonably discern Falkner's behaviour as that of a massive bellend with no capacity for self-reflection.

So tired of being sick I decided to pay to get my whole genome sequenced so I can at least see if there's anything weird there.

Maybe I'm double intersex, who knows.

Good perspective.

I don't want a world where the least vulnerable kids are able to bypass the restrictions, and the most vulnerable, who are apparently the target of this policy to protect, are unable to, cutting off resources they could've used to be safe.

I've been insanely guarded about being intersex for most of my life. It's only the last few months I've actually started talking in more open settings. People have been so kind and respectful, especially in advocacy spaces.

I feel less afraid, and more like I'm me. It's strange.

Also just to be completely clear, as I unwittingly push to the far-left side of the bioessentialist horseshoe -

Binary and non-binary transgender people are valid. Intersex people exist despite the cultural erasure.

You can sex somebody's gonads, chromosomes, primary, secondary and hormonal characteristics. Those traits are part of a system that morph in complex ways over a lifetime.

Gender identity is also a sex trait, part of the same system. It cannot be overruled by other traits.

Sex is a system of traits, not a singular classification. It is something you HAVE, not something you ARE.

No sex trait can be used to classify somebody's identity, except one - their gender identity.

Honestly, if they shopped for advice that gave them the idea this was not a GDPR violation, they should consider finding a lawyer that isn't a fucking hack.

A TERF was attacking my trans friends because 'biological sex'. I don't like being a 'gotcha', but this was an exception. I forced him through a talk on genetics, steroidogenesis, and my resultant genitals. I asked him to classify my 'biological sex'. He classified me as a 'complex argument'.

We should redirect TERFs anger towards intersex baby mutilation.

Then they're no longer abusing people electing to undergo corrective treatment that makes them happy. They could instead get to help fix the ACTUAL issue they claim to care about.

Y'all should watch 'The Secret of Me'. It's an excellent intersex documentary.

It's weird. The TERFs treat the exceptions for single-sex spaces as though they're positively constructed. But they're exceptions to equality. Not meant to stand forever. Just until society chills on the sexism that makes us unequal in the first place.

Whether oppression happens in a predominantly Muslim or Christian culture, leftists feel the same thing - it needs to be torn down.

Then there's:

"Cis women can be discriminated against because of religious belief."

But I don't quite see how the latter flows from the former?

The EHRC's letters to Scottish Government opposing gender recognition reform had the same 'oh no the equality act' argument.

Interesting since the SC judgment deleted that issue, the EHRC kept pushing even further, rather than 'turning down the heat on the toxic debate'.
