I wish I can mourn with you all of President Jimmy Carter’s death. But I cannot as he, like all US presidents were active supporters and instigators of the oppression of the South Korean people.

It’s crazy how the US is like this. In South Korea, the priests and bishops in Catholic Church recently put out a statement for their right wing president to resign because he’s a threat to democracy

Kim Sang-wook, PPP member who came out to vote, just said he voted against impeachment, but also said his personal view is that Yoon shouldn’t be president. What the fuck does that mean?

Ok. We have 3 PPP members who are in the chamber and voted. There’s no way to know how they voted yet, but it’s likely they voted for impeachment. Ahn Cheol-Soo is the sole PPP member who made it public he would support impeachment. The other two came in as the Democratic Party is trying to buy time

Ridiculously disappointed in the People Power Party in South Korea. History will remember each member and their complicity.

He’s not taking any responsibility. His party just boycotted the impeachment vote.

We can’t compare the PPP to the US’ Republican Party or even MAGA. It’s far worse as they have ties to the military dictatorships of the past.

It was beautiful to see different groups come together for freedom is not real until we are all free. I’m incredibly for their support and look forward to support them in their fight for their liberation.

The protests also called for the US to withdraw from South Korea and stop using the Korean Peninsula as a pawn in its Cold War against Russia and China.

We were joined by Liberation Movement organizers for Palestine and the Philippines, both of whom are also victims of Western colonization.

The protests going on in South Korea and in diaspora communities around the world aren’t just calling for the end of Yoon’s presidency, but to reform Korean society as a whole. It involves a complete change in the economic and political system to serve all people.

Today, I got to be a part of my motherland’s history by taking part in a protest organized by Nodutdol for Korean Community Development. Though Martial Law was lifted yesterday, it was the nail in the coffin that made it clear it was time for President Yoon to resign.

Unfortunately that’s not always the case. I’m a pastor in progressive Christian spaces. In a lot of fully queer inclusive churches, there’s still a lot of racism. Maybe not in the direct MAGA way, but really subtle micro-aggressions every day.

The sad reality is, South Korea has essentially been a US territory since Japan’s occupation/genocide in Korea ended.

This also my hope. The Korean people were decisive and courageous. Hoping Yoon’s resignation is next.

Hello. I’m sure you didn’t mean any harm, but this isn’t funny. Lots of people in South Korea have already died due to things Yoon has done. This was an attempted coup and Koreans all over the word were terrified.

Joining the protest at the South Korean Consulate in LA tomorrow at 6pm. Demanding the resignation of President Yoon. Calling all allies of the Korean people to support us in protecting democracy.

Though he and a few colleagues have been under fire, they are resilient and continue the fight to make the Church in South Korea a more inclusive place for all people.

Last month, I went to Seoul, Korea with my partner to visit her family. The final Sunday there, we visited Q&A, a progressive, queer inclusive, and justice minded church. The pastor in the last few years has been on trial where his ordination may be revoked.
