interesting to think that revolutionary era americans understood themselves as making a break with the “old world” and establishing a new civilization. and crucially, this new civilization rested on republican self-government, not “sovereignty.”

(1) regionalizing seems great… but idk how to get around existing regional districts also losing students, (2) individual towns and districts oppose regionalizing even if it’s to their detriment to do so, (3) funding these schools would solve a lot of problems!

There were definitely some sparks flying, but people kept speaking up and said they supported Alt 1, which felt really good to see

And also, funny enough, apparently AADT in that area is actually SMALLEST on that stretch of pleasant st compared to the other 4 entering newton — by far the widest of any of the roads there (something like 8500 cars a day, compared to 19,000 on highland)
