Our top priority is making life better for Nova Scotians. We won't vote on a bill that pits renters against survivors of gender-based violence, and licensing for bouncers against Indigenous rights. The Houston government is playing politics with people’s safety and their rights.

Today, we walked out of the legislature and refused to vote on Houston's Omnibus Bill.

Last week he slashed the heating rebate that families and seniors rely on to keep the heat on in the winter. 46,000 Nova Scotians were kicked off the program, and the rebate has been cut by hundreds of dollars.

Since Tim Houston was elected, Nova Scotians' power bills have gone up by $400. But instead of helping you afford a life in our province, he's making it harder.

October 1st is Treaty Day and marks the beginning of Mi’kmaq History Month. New Democrats remain committed to upholding the rights and responsibilities created by the Peace and Friendship Treaties.

British Columbia made birth control free in 2023 and the results are in: when contraceptives are freely available, people can and will get the medication and health care they need.

While Tim Houston sits on his hands as your bills rise, Claudia Chender and Nova Scotia's New Democrats are proposing real solutions to lower your bills, protect your privacy, and make sure you can recover from any financial harm cause by data breaches.

Today we are back in the Legislature where we are putting forward practical solutions to support Nova Scotians.

Since the Houston government was elected, Nova Scotians' power bills have gone up by more than four hundred dollars a year. Now NSP has applied for an 8% rate increase over two years.
