Houston's plan to support developers building high-end apartments that people can't afford is not making it easier to afford a home in our province.

The data is clear: we need to invest in non-market housing options that will actually take the pressure of renters.

The Houston government promised they'd expand Cobequid and fix health care but haven't. The community is left waiting for answers and without the health care they need when they need it.

Today on Transgender Day of Remembrance we honour the memory of those lost in acts of anti-transgender violence and commit to taking real action to build a safer, more inclusive future for trans and two-spirit Nova Scotians.

She was fierce in her politics of social change and equity, and was not shy about her progressive views. In her almost 30 year political career, Alexa led both the Provincial and Federal NDP and held elected office as both an MLA and an MP.

On World Diabetes Day, we're reminded that everyone should have the care they need to manage this chronic condition. With proper support, those with diabetes can thrive. It's vital to ensure they have access to the primary care they need, something that too many Nova Scotians are still waiting for.

On Viola Desmond Day we remember and celebrate the African Nova Scotian civil rights leader who took a stand when she was faced with racist and unjust treatment. Her fight against racial segregation inspired people across the country and continues to motivate us today to pursue justice for all.

Under the Houston government, the cost of rent, power, and other basics are up – way up.

Today is Healthy Wells Day!

This year, serious drought conditions have meant months of dry wells for thousands of Nova Scotians. 45% of people in our province get their drinking water from private wells and need support to keep their wells healthy now more than ever.

Nova Scotians are spending $4,400 more each year on rent since the Houston government was elected.

We have a plan for real rent control that would tie a rent cap to the unit, not the tenant, and to create an enforcement unit for residential tenancy so renters can get help when they’re being abused.
