This comes around predictably every time the platform passes another million or so threshold.

Louth has a couple of shops in its secondary shopping area, a conservation zone, empty for decades. Plus several recently closed banks sat empty and in limbo. It's such a waste.

There isn't one on the parliamentary petitions site, where it can force a debate.

Language matters. So no, we're not calling it that. AI sceptics, perhaps, or AI non-cultists. Even better, plagiarism machine resistance. Or, the simplest description of those who refuse to outsource intellectual work: Thinkers.

A lot of development isn't writing code. It's figuring out what needs to be there, and also what doesn't need to be there. It's thinking through edge cases, distrusting user input, and planning for the unexpected.

Wow, this post really took off. So it's a good time to point out all of my SFF novels have been stolen and fed into various AI writing tools, but you can buy them from all good bookshops.

I'm glad I wrote search functions for my blogs; that's the only way the old stuff is accessible now. Google did index it all once, but those days are long gone. Anything older than the last 6 months or so, and they're not bothering.

Last week, Reform UK launched a campaign against so-called energy β€œeyesores”. Yet their Mayor wants to cover Lincolnshire with fracking rigs.

This isn’t about land or eyesores. It’s about repeating the line that their millionaire donors tell them to say.

It needs calling out.

No, open is worse. I was wondering why not get an electric one, or just seal it up and rely on radiators.

This is bad, considering blood tests are one of the things GPs have to fund as an extra.

We're going to have to pay more attention to publication dates. Hyper vigilance for everything after 2025.

I don't think it's an accident that county councils are pushing for bigger unitaries, and districts aren't. It's the same deal in Lincolnshire. This is coming from officers, who have a vested interest in being in the council that sees fewest short-term changes to their departments.

East Lindsey District Council has a mere 700 square miles, so comfortably over 3x Leeds' size. Distance and transport are huge issues when it comes to local government and understanding the areas within a council's footprint.

One issue is, it's 1960s caravan law and not fit for purpose. But there are only a few districts with these kind of numbers of caravans. It's an East Lindsey problem more than anywhere else, and successive governments have ignored the area. It will take a disaster to get it looked at.

How We Slice The Lincolnshire Pie Greater Lincolnshire councils are due to be reorganised into unitary councils. Why is this happening, and what are the considerations that go into creating new council areas?

The more I think about the factors that go into effective #Lincolnshire local government reorganisation, the more complex it gets.

There's more recent data quoted in a caravan scrutiny report a couple of years ago. And as a result enforcement is better now against people living year-round in coastal caravans. But we do have a problem, undeniably.

There's some ridiculous language being used in this debate. But the OSA needs a rethink to improve its protections, examine its scope, and improve security for people's data. I hope a scrutiny on its impacts will be timetabled.

If people are to trust companies with age verification there needs to be robust checking, developer training and certification. At the moment we have no-name companies popping up, asking for people's most sensitive ID docs, and sharing data with other organisations.

There needs to be more emphasis on providing and promoting parental controls that most ISPs provide. They should be provided by all ISPs. And age verification needs to be more secure and trustworthy, coming from GDPR-covered countries.

02.08.2025 08:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It may be how they should work; but the implementation is terrible from a technical standpoint. ISPs have age-restricting features that aren't being promoted by this law. And age verification is being done by companies outside tbe UK - what impact does GDPR have on them?

Mega councils aren't suited to big rural counties where there isn't the transport for councillors to get around the area they represent easily, or for people to visit their council offices.

I didn't know this either. It's appalling. I have no issue with APPGs, they serve a useful function. But they shouldn't be open to corruption in this way. One of many aspects of Parliament desperately needing reform.
