I think it's important to remember that Frey had two years of a council that mostly gave him whatever he wanted, and all I remember him doing during that time was tinkering with the city government org chart and then filling it with people who couldn't or wouldn't do the work.

One of the worst things about the 2021 election result was that smart, progressive people who know MPD is overfunded and ineffective decided that they weren't allowed to talk about that anymore — forgetting that Frey and Arradondo got the result they got by making it all about "14 bosses."

Trump's best precincts by far were centered on North Central University and the U. I do think it will be a challenge for Frey to turn out Trump-voting college students.

Oh, and Bloomington also starts south of 94. Basically all of the extra avenues come from the grid veering off diagonally.

If you look at the downtown grid, it makes a bit more sense:

- Stevens, Clinton, Oakland and Columbus are "extra" avenues that don't start until you get south of 94.
- Portland is 6th, Park is 7th, Chicago is 8th, and Elliot is 9th. (There are actually a few discontiuous blocks of 9th downtown.)

Whether or not this stupid pants ad is truly based in eugenics, it sure stinks of it. That said, the public fracas has completely avoided discussing the one thing that can’t be debated: it’s absolutely, terribly written.

Yep. Assuming they're following the reporting rules, they neither raised nor spent any money after May 31. At that time, their cash on hand was about half of what they needed to pay back wages and rent (mostly wages).

The pattern seems to be mostly right-leaning donations earlier in the year and left-leaning donations more recently, which suggests a shift in who he sees himself aligned with.

At some point I might find time to do a deep dive on candidates giving to other candidates. For one, I noticed that Park Board candidate Kedar Deshpande has eclectic giving tastes (both Chughtai and Millard, Shaffer but also Stevenson).

And $3000 went to Nia Wilson, also formerly of WLM. Wilson was first paid by Millard on June 11. She was last paid by WLM on May 28, and they apparently still owe her $4640 in unpaid back wages for which they will need to fundraise before they close. At what point does this look like coordination?

Progressives need to take a smart "rank the slate" approach to this race. It's hard when there are four serious progressive candidates and voters can only rank three. But if Forney's personal vote holds up and progressive votes transfer well, Peterson will be the odd one out, as he should be.

The current iteration that we are dealing with is notable not because the ideas or phenomena are new but because social media/online media/targeted advertising have changed the way this content is distributed and also the current iteration is a know your place aggression backlash to feminist gains
