1. are disabled.
2. went through the process themselves.
3. work in higher ed at all.
4. read ANY critical disability studies work at all? Like, any?

It’s the end of the semester and we’re all managing a lot. But please give a colleague the benefit of the doubt. We all doing the best we can. Tuh.

For the love of everything good in the world, playing semantic ping pong in email with certain folks almost feels like certain people at work enjoy misunderstanding faculty. Like damn, we all have our own work to do and some folks relish in making it harder for you to do yours.

December so wild in my house. We have our elopement anniversary, Husband’s birthday, & Christmas. Nothing but money going out the door 🙃🙃 all great times to celebrate but IJS.

We were up late into this morning, watching tv shows and relaxing after cooking all literal day. I’m incredibly grateful for the Thanksgiving we had.

We are doing a full American thanksgiving tomorrow and a more Caribbean themed Christmas spread.

Saddened to hear about the loss of Alice Wong, who gave so much to this world. My work doesn’t exist without the possibility model that was Alice. What a disability trailblazer.

This ASHE conference owes me NOTHING.

If you have anything kind or generous to say to an early career scholar, please say it. We need it in more ways than you know. We absolutely need the encouragement. This work is not easy, especially when you really care. This is often thankless work. Some days you are worn down. But it’s all love.

God has a funny way of using anyone and anything to remind you of how He made you & what He made you for. And never late, always on time. The fellowship this year has fed me. #ASHE2025

On several different occasions today. I was told by the person or via another person, how they been engaging with my work, words, thoughts, and ideas. They come from such a deep place that I’ll never know if it means anything to anyone but me. #ASHE2025

There is NOTHING like people telling you that they cited your work in their conference presentations. It’s not something I expect. Like, you never know if people are reading your work or it’s finding the audience you’re writing for. I’m grateful and humbled.

I’m turned around from the longest day ever and also all this travel. But I made it. My bed is calling my name!

What a week I’m having.

The Caribbean region & of course, Jamaica are on my mind hard. Kinda hard to focus on anything else. Praying for our friends, families, institutions, culture.
