β€˜Vaguely Threatening’: Federal Prosecutor Queries Leading Medical Journal The New England Journal of Medicine received a letter suggesting that it was biased and compromised by external pressure. Other journals have also received the letter.

"Mr. Kennedy said he would seek to prosecute medical journals under federal anti-corruption laws....`unless you come up with a plan right now to show how you’re going to start publishing real science.'"

I'm sure Jim Jordan will speak up against this blatant act of government intimidation.

NIH Grant Cuts Aren't Saving Money. They're Wasting It. The Trump administration says the canceled funding is about cost efficiency, but data shows that the opposite is happening.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

WASHINGTON β€” Today, the Departments of Education (ED), Health and Human Services (HHS), and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), announced a comprehensive review of federal contracts and grants at Harvard University and its affiliates. This review is part of the ongoing efforts of the Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism.
The Task Force will review the more than $255.6 million in contracts between Harvard University, its affiliates and the Federal Government. The review also includes the more than $8.7 billion in multi-year grant commitments to Harvard University and its affiliates to ensure the university is in compliance with federal regulations, including its civil rights responsibilities.
β€œHarvard has served as a symbol of the American Dream for generations – the pinnacle aspiration for students all over the world to work hard and earn admission to the storied institution,” said Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. β€œHarvard’s failure to protect students on campus from anti-Semitic discrimination - all while promoting divisive ideologies over free inquiry - has put its reputation in serious jeopardy. Harvard can right these wrongs and restore itself to a campus dedicated to academic excellence and truth-seeking, where all students feel safe on its campus.”
Today’s actions by the Task Force follow a similar ongoing review of Columbia University. That review led to Columbia agreeing to comply with 9 preconditions, links to an external website for further negotiations regarding a return of canceled federal funds. This initiative strengthens enforcement of President Trump’s Executive Order titled β€œAdditional Measures to Combat Anti-Semitism, links to an external website. The Task Force ensures that federally funded institutions uphold their legal and ethical responsibilities to prevent anti-Semitic harassment.

Linda WWF McMahon suddenly interested in freedom at Harvard

Trump and Musk now come for Harvard.

After Columbia did the cut and run, this was inevitable. The only answer for universities is to join together and say no.

Also, look at these lies. Anti-semitism is a pretext used because it draws some support from Democrats. This is an ATTACK on freedom.

Trump is attacking NIH because politicizing funding can force universities to become conservative thinktanks It's bad, folks. The real war is on free thought in the United States.

Why is Trump going after US science?
What's the endgame for these attacks?

Vance, Rufo, Trump and Republican elites are attacking NIH and manipulating its grants in order to attack American universities.

I show how Trump's attacks on science and universities are neither random nor new - they fit very precisely into the authoritarian playbook.

Every time you see what sounds like a wild claim about woke research, you can assume a) it will fall apart under the most basic of inspection, b) the person making the claim will never be held accountable for lying, and c) it is a cover to gut useful research that we benefit from.
