After years of not knowing my dog personality, the mystery has been solved.

I am a border collie.

✅ Can’t rest unless every story thread is back in its pen.

✅ Track thematic motifs like sheep across genre pastures.

✅ When bored, generates new ways to manage the prose more efficiently.

Em dashes are a great way to control sentence pacing and make easier to read certain kinds of complex sentences. Another place they're very useful, is in dialogue. They can show natural stop/starts, or speech interruptions.

Which is why my creative work tends to rely heavily on vivid multi-sensory descriptions. It’s how I personally experience the world, so it shows up in my work. Visuals are the weakest of my descriptions because I’m relying heavily on how sighted authors describe things in their books.

When I say I experience thoughts or a book “like a movie” it’s not accurate. There’s just nothing close enough for me to explain the multi-sensory experience I get from thinking or reading.

My brain doesn’t pull up clear images because I don’t see in clear images. What it does pull vividly is voices, cadence, the feel of someone’s clothes, the sound a particular wrapper makes, what rain smells like, what spring smells like, etc.

A writer in a group brought up hyperphantasia (when you can imagine things in vivid clarify). It reminded me that I have that, and now I’m on a research rabbit hole instead of working.

As a DeafBlind person with this mental profile, it’s hilarious how vision obsessed these articles are.

I love when discovery drafts take you on wild adventures you didn’t expect. This shifter romance series is exactly what I needed to reset my brain after finishing Dissonant Desires. Cannot wait to share more about it!
