Agreed. Just pointing out that ability to be “nice” in isn’t even basic knowlege of dealing with children.

Experts in dealing with children know the lifelong impacts of childhood trauma—PTSD, sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, suicidality—and are trained in avoiding trauma inflicting behaviors.

And they know a Happy Meal can’t erase trauma.

And to your point about Trump not caring in the future who leads, he might want to kick out the current leader at some point. If Mamdani could charm Trump (and most people with “celeb“ status can), the meeting gave her that chance, too. But without floating the medal, she never gets a meeting.

My point is we don’t know her wants. Our assumption is she wanted a prez appointment. Maybe she wanted Oval Office legitimacy for meetings w/other world leaders, & to make her a legit alternative prez in their eyes. If other countries intervene at some point they need leadership plans before that.

Trump has said many times that Ukraine had to cede land to Russia to end the war. What Zelenskyy has gotten from Trump is Trump backing off that.

Zelenskyy knows he isn’t going to get money or weapons from the US. What he needs/wants from Trump is Trump not taking direct action on behalf of Putin.

Zelenskyy has been incredibly effective at giving Trump the superficial things Trump wants while simultaneously signaling to everyone else that he is playing Trump, not acquiescing to demands.

I don’t think he wants peace!! I think her intentions are good and she either 1. tried the Zelenskyy everyone-knows-his-game, so I will play as a means to an end or 2. is going to use this to rally her people as “we must fight to keep Trump out of our country,” or both.
