Often the approval from Nova Scotia Dept of Labour for the temporary sidewalks lags the permit to close the sidewalk. It's frustrating. In this environment I doubt HRM could delay permits to build while waiting for that catch-up.

A significant contributor to road safety is that Alberta has had "Intersection Safety Devices" (red light cams) and photo radar for speeding since the 1970s. Every time I'm in Edmonton it is startling.

It really can not be emphasized enough that "exaggerating the danger of the left" is a key, central tactic of aspiring fascists. Look back at every country that slid into authoritarianism & you'll find a campaign like this preceding it. Every time. It's part of the script.

Soemthing that is always notable to me about Americans is that they struggle to find the right language to discuss transit or cities at all. You often hear them say things like “build bus lines” or call things light rail when they definitely are not.
