I am not great at self-promo but it dawned on me today that LET THE MONSTER OUT is literally the perfect #middlegrade book for this season. Baseball, scary stuff, the value of teamwork, and a fearless upstart pitcher as the main character. What more could you want?

One of my firmest digital-age opinions is that surprising anyone and then posting it for the views — even a “good” surprise like a relative coming home — is inherently exploitative, and that goes double for doing it to kids.

I have thought more than once this postseason about how lucky we are to have the Sportsnet team throughout the postseason instead of being force-fed Fox coverage.

I seriously think the Jays are a great and timely model of healthy masculinity. Selfless devotion to the common good, positive affection (they hug a lot), not a lot of ego, and there's room to be hyper-competitive and possibly unhinged (Max Scherzer) without being toxic. They are good!
