I was actually offered DBT Prolonged Exposure work within the 18 months I had but had a new therapist and didn't want to rush such important work with someone I didn't have a therapeutic relationship with yet. The authors do seem quite unaware of many aspects to be honest

What about treatment and care being individualised, person centred and trauma informed? #BPD #CPTSD #Autism

How can you blame clinicians or patients for wanting a diagnosis that fits the facts and symptoms accurately and is connected to evidence based therapies? Of course there are people who benefit from treatments for BPD but that shouldn't mean they're the only ones offered... 4/

of complex trauma. Currently I'm only eligible for trauma therapy in my NHS Trust if I get a diagnosis of C-PTSD. My BPD diagnosis actively excludes me from such therapy without it. 3/

to BPD patients when they've had DBT and/or MBT and are still left with significant, unresolved trauma? I've completed 18 months of DBT and am 12 months into an 18 month MBT programme and my overall symptoms have improved dramatically but still experience horrendous somatic flashbacks as a result 2/

I've read the article but spoons are low so I don't have capacity to form a full response. My initial reaction is that they are two distinct diagnoses with significant overlap. I can appreciate the point about getting the appropriate treatment but what they haven't mentioned is what happens 1/

That's good to know. I know the waiting lists are horrendous for ADHD meds at the moment which is why I want to start the process sooner rather than later.

To be honest, it's been nearly 6 months and I still have days where I worry. I would say it started to settle around the 2 month mark, post diagnosis though.

It's so complex, isn't it? The main reason I'm curious about an ADHD dx is that I wonder if medication could help me manage symptoms like executive dysfunction and inattentiveness/lack of focus. As I'm starting to take on more work, I do worry how sustainable it is without appropriate support...

I'm worried that if I'm seeing someone who specialises in ADHD, that they won't understand how both diagnoses present together. I'd likely be going down the #RightToChoose pathway on the NHS so not sure how this will change things.

Appreciate any insight!

Callout to anyone with #AuDHD

Do you find that some of your autistic and ADHD symptoms clash and therefore don't present typically? I'm pretty sure I have ADHD alongside my autism but am worried that the autism makes it hard for a professional to see the ADHD symptoms... 1/

Stardew Valley gets me through some very difficult times. I'm so grateful to the devs for continuing to work on it and improve it.

As a former Peer Support Worker, I'm incredibly passionate about #LivedExperience and embedding that within MH services across the board from support workers through to director level roles. This will hopefully ensure that everyone is fully supported to share their experiences in a healthy way.

I am currently a Patient Representative for RCPsych across multiple programmes and am about to start as a National Advisor to the Culture of Care programme. I'm really looking forward to developing my confidence in the workplace, at my own pace, taking into account self-care and my recovery needs.

A little introduction to me... I've been a mental health patient for 26 years and experienced care under CAMHS and adult services. I've completed #DBT and am a year into #MBT. I've recently been diagnosed with #Autism so coming to terms with that. I am passionate about improving MH patient care...
