Sweet irony.. from a zine I made at my last hospital w/o Oxe (โ€˜A Patientโ€™s Guide to 1-1 Staff and Where to Find Them) - think my artistic rendition is pretty spot on.

(This Oxevision is turned offโ€ฆ because of the argument I had with SABP ages agoโ€ฆ)

On my way to an inpatient mental health ward this evening. In general hospital waiting. Nervous but trying to keep it together. Card of the day is very apt. #madsky

Autistics to Boris Johnson: donโ€™t even fucking think about it Autistic people have issued a statement explaining to Boris Johnson that autism does not cause you to become a compulsively lying, law-breaking, nation-wrecking cunt. The statement encourages Johnson ...

โ€œOh no you fucking donโ€™t. Seriously, you tosspot, youโ€™re not one of us and we wouldnโ€™t want you even if you were. Step one foot on our lovely spectrum and weโ€™ll yeet you directly into the sun.โ€

At the end of the day we do have a duty to ourselves and to protect ourselves. If something that someone is doing is distressing to us, provided itโ€™s not actually harmful, itโ€™s our job to step away. Maybe this person needs to understand that. Regardless none of it is on you. ๐Ÿ’—

07.12.2024 16:29 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Having seen your posts for a while youโ€™ve always been conscientious of what you say, so I really donโ€™t think any duty or responsibility sits with you here. Iโ€™m sure theyโ€™re struggling but it was unnecessary for them to say that to you and maybe just unkind?

07.12.2024 16:29 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

You canโ€™t possibly anticipate the triggers of a stranger who chooses to read your post. I feel for them, butโ€ฆ mental illness isnโ€™t your fault but it is your responsibility. We canโ€™t ask people not to speak freely (within reason) on the internet in fear that somebody somewhere may be distressed by it

07.12.2024 16:29 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah, this sucks. It may well have been genuinely really triggering for them but you canโ€™t hold the responsibility for that. Triggers can be literally anything, theyโ€™re individual to each person. We owe each other kindness and have responsibility to be mindful of what we post, but only to a point

Wow, this is a pretty stunning exercise in mental gymnastics. Itโ€™s amazing how much work people will do to justify the things that they donโ€™t want to change. The conclusion comes first - the narrative follows.

The system always resists change. For things to be better we have to start somewhere.

I wish A&Es had an actual protocol for supporting autistic people and had things like fidgets/earplugs/ear defenders available, because this is genuinely a hostile environment. Thereโ€™s also very little structure to my day which Iโ€™m finding very difficult. #MadSky #AutisticSky

โ€˜You get more autistic in hospitalโ€™ is something Iโ€™m finding very true so far.

Iโ€™m stuck in A&E and it feels like my circuits are fried. Iโ€™ve not been this sensory-sensitive in a very long time. I think itโ€™s because itโ€™s so constant and out of control, and you just spend so much time waiting.

07.12.2024 09:11 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 8    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 4    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

โ€ฆjust as Iโ€™d said would be necessary weeks ago. But now Iโ€™m stuck 1-1 in A&E until they find a bed. I seem to have hit the magic button that means theyโ€™re seeing me as ill and needing help rather than hysterical. Which is nice but I donโ€™t trust it will last.

In updates.. I was sent to a crisis house, quickly deemed too high risk to be there, htt messed about so ended up with them calling an ambulance as didnโ€™t feel able to keep me safe. So thatโ€™s CMHRS messing up. Psychiatrist and psych liaison team all agreeing I need an inpatient admission.

White woman wearing a Halloween pumpkin skirt, black top, with a bubbly orange walking stick.

Having my stick now is part of me - I coordinate it to my outfits, have a bit of fun with it. I can do a bit without my stick but even if I donโ€™t necessarily need it when I leave the house.. I definitely do by the time Iโ€™m getting back!

It gets easier. Love from someone further along ๐Ÿ’—

When I first used my stick I felt the same. Iโ€™m 5-6 years in now and you do get used to the impostor syndrome. Remember that using a stick is a pain in the arse - takes up one of your hands all the time - and if it helps you more than it hinders; thatโ€™s because you need it.

Coroner calls for government to take ownership of suicide risk from poisonous substance An inquest into the death of Hannah Aitken has found that she died at her supported living accommodation for people with autism taking a poisonous substance which she ordered online.

Sheโ€™s from my area and was the same age as Fern when she died, as well, so this one hits close to home. And family represented by our solicitor! Caleb is fabulous.

All my love to her family and her friends. Just an awful situation all round.

Really saddened to hear about Hannah Aitkenโ€™s death. From the info provided Iโ€™m pretty certain itโ€™s what my sister used in the same way. Yet another PFD for the same substance, yet more reluctance from public bodies to do anything about it, just as we experienced. And yet another autistic girl lost.

Happy birthday to me!
Spending the day by the log fire and going out to unlimited kbbq in the evening.
I've been in Tuscany all week (I found Florence overrated but more rural Italy incredible) so it's great to be home.
Brought home some lovely olive oil and balsamic vinegar!
Bliss.

In fact, I believe Wallace himself was a victim of CSA.

These are the things you take to rehabilitative therapy and probation reports, not what you use to defend someone online.

But regardless of all of this, his behaviour went unchecked. That's rape culture, not autism. Simple as.

30.11.2024 15:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Autistic people are significantly more likely to be victims of sexual offences than they are perpetrators.

Wallace was in a position of power, with lower support needs - if he is autistic at all. He is really not the group we're talking about when we discuss vulnerable sex offenders.

30.11.2024 15:49 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Autism can absolutely affect your vulnerability and leave you displaced, which can both be a contributing factor to criminality. Lack of social understanding can also contribute to sexual offences (and definitely to being caught where others wouldn't be.)

It doesn't make it acceptable.

Disabled friends who are dismayed by the passing of the assisted suicide bill: I am with you.

Your life is important and valuable. Your life matters.
You deserve the help and support that is right for your needs.
Benefits arenโ€™t shameful.
You are not a burden on society.
You are loved.

I don't feel we've heard enough from #disabled people and those who will bear the brunt of the impact of this bill, which IMO has not had anywhere near enough scrutiny.

I've also rarely heard from those who have lived good #EOLC but still want change. I have so many thoughts, for another time.

Men are more likely to be sexually assaulted than they are to be falsely accused. And if a man tells me he has been sexually assaulted then yes; my predisposition is to believe him.

This is not the โ€˜ownโ€™ you think it is. Take your internalised misogyny to therapy and out my comment section x
