It's hard to express what it meant to watch Maurice, Natalia, Celeste, and Rhea tell their storiesβ€”in their own voicesβ€”this morning.

The segment revealed a brutal reality: homelessness at this scale isn't about personal failure. It's the result of policy choices and systems built to exploit people.

"Our actions are working, and they are not enough.
Nothing we do is sufficient, and everything we do matters.
We must be strategic, and we must operate on multiple fronts simultaneously.
Time is of the essence, and we have to act for the long haul.
This is how change happens." Dan Berger

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

More people need to watch this. It's what happens when a pipeline carrying CO2 ruptures. We need these pipelines for any carbon sequestration scheme (CCS, DAC). When the flood of heavy CO2 gas rolls over the landscape it suffocates everything in its path and shuts off car engines, which need oxygen.

Łink banned, Sarah Kendzior banned. This site set for itself the incredibly low bar of "replicate the experience of Twitter in 2022" and it consistently fails to clear it

Sarah Kendzior is a well respected author that's covered Trump thoroughly for over a decade now. If Bluesky is suspending her, out of all of us, I think it's safe to assume that this place is under the thumb of Trump and we've been sold down the river.

we should not be letting any company get away with blaming AI for their failures. I'm not even sure how we got to this point. people are like "it's just a tool" okay so is a forklift and we still hold somebody responsible when it goes wrong and hurts someone. this is YOUR AI!

I think a lot of the anger this morning stems from a feeling that we did our part, but they did not do theirs. This is an oversimplification, but my dudes, no wonder people are like, β€œOK, let’s try the democratic socialist, then.”

If you're a young person, find your people are try stuff. You don't know how it will turn out AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. Failure is a natural part of living. Not something to be scared of. Try shit. Don't sit back and throw stones at others who are trying shit.

No it’s important to listen to this. Because then you understand that many of them will do ANYTHING to keep power. Remember Musk got involved in the 2024 election after saying to Tucker β€œif she wins” I am definitely going to prison.

So we need to move knowing that nothing is off the table for them.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

First go to the hamburger menu in the upper left corner

2 Billion Email Addresses Were Exposed, and We Indexed Them All in Have I Been Pwned I hate hyperbolic news headlines about data breaches, but for the "2 Billion Email Addresses" headline to be hyperbolic, it'd need to be exaggerated or overstated - and it isn't. It's rounded up from ...

The average American household spent 17% of their income on car ownership. Stating that transit is expensive while ignoring that cars are too is a choice.

Saying we can drop billions into unproven car tech instead of investing in bus lanes is also a choice.

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

Your ability to eat should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get healthcare should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get housing should not depend on your productivity

Saying β€œbe more productive!” To those who are struggling devalues human life.

It aids fascism.
