Ok, so, I have a long-term goal here. And that is, to get good enough at replicating historical lace, passementerie, buttons, etc, that I can make commissions for other costumers. And then I will finally have purpose to all of this.

I literally spent all day Friday in bed. The only thing I did was take my kid to school at 7:30am and run out for take-out at dinner.

I'm still sick, but I woke up relatively early this morning and felt pretty good so I made pancakes and eggs for breakfast and ran the dishwasher and started laundry. I must have overdone it because then came the nausea and overheating. 😭

We read this one, critically, in my Sci Fi lit class in college for this reason. But the class also started with Frankenstein, recognizing Shelley as the first SciFi author, and included novels like Joanna Russ' "The Female Man."

I rewatched up to Season 9 last year for the first time since it aired, and noticing the giant "Cure Autism Now" posters in the ER really made me consider how times have changed. (My teen and I are both diagnosed. 🫣)

🙌 Got a PhD with undiagnosed ADHD and Autism. Classwork was a breeze. The dissertation nearly killed me.

They had no problem asking me to do 90% of the work for a 4-person team because of my "expertise." They just didn't want to pay for it.

So I quit.

So, on top of the logistical running of the program, I was also responsible for collecting the data, analyzing the data, writing reports and academic papers, and writing the grant re-application. I asked for full time, or a title increase, and I was told no because the uni tied salary to titles.

Oh my gawd. I got hired, part time, right out of grad school, to run an NSF-funded program. My job title was "coordinator." I was working with 3 other PhDs, but I was the only one with a specialty in the grant area. I was told I had more expertise than the two PIs, so I was given all the work.

Doesn't matter if you put it in a catchy song. My kid probably would have protested the song. 😝
