The only way to book is via the Tesco Pharmacy website. Which I've just done. The next appointment that's possible for my partner and me is a fortnight and a long drive away but hey, at least it is now BOOKED! πŸŽ‰

I never *dreamed* that getting to this point would be this hard.

As requested, I rang the second pharmacy again (in the nearest Big Tesco). They said there's no booking on their system and the booking site I've been using (Pharmadoctor) no longer lets you book with Tesco pharmacies.

"do Pharmadoctor know that?"
"yes, but they're doing nothing to rectify it."

Unfortunately the Evri form only allows 300 characters so I'm gonna have to shorten it!

Screenshot of a Notepad file where the text reads:

My main concern when using couriers is their safety and wellbeing. Getting parcels quickly is appreciated, but the most important thing is that the couriers have working conditions allowing them to take breaks so they protect their own health and protect the rest of us by driving safely.

Rather than asking me for feedback on individual drivers, I would prefer you to tell me what safeguards you're putting in place. For example, can you send me a link to your policies on breaks and sick leave?

However, this particular courier did a great job...

I've written my own version of this and saved it in a notepad file on my computer. From now on when I get companies asking for feedback on individual couriers, I'll paste it in.

What can we do to improve your experience with Evri?
My primary concern when using couriers is how the courier themselves are treated by the company. Receiving parcels on time is great, but in the run up to christmas I do worry about how much work the couriers are doing. I would much rather wait longer for my parcel and know the courier is well rested and happy, than receive my parcel on time from a fatigued or stressed courier.

Evri seem to be sending out a bunch of feedback forms at the moment.

If you get sent one I'd appreciate it if you'd take a moment to let them know that the working conditions of the couriers is a priority when choosing a courier service. It's especially important in the run up to Christmas.

In addition, benches can become informal meeting spaces and they can contribute to the seen community. We see this when we hear people complaining about the youth hanging out by bus stops / shopping squares but it needn't just be 'the youth'; it can be the aged, it can be mums with kids, etc. End/n

Benches in the public domain are massively important; even better if they are comfortable and public art. When we encourage people to participate in active travel, those who are worried about walking because of the potential to become exhausted will do it if they know there are stopping places. 1/n

We talk a lot about how the mindset of there being two sides and how you're on the good side, can make you vulnerable to hubris if you're too inflexible but I think the mindset of there being two sides that are both wrong and you being in the sensible middle makes you even more vulnerable to hubris

Hello.
It me.
October 7th is World Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day.
6+ years and counting. It's a life changing illness. There is no cure. Facial pain falls down the cracks between diciplines. It's recognised as one of the worst pains in medicine.

Among other things the reason is apparently "time spent looking at the CCTV footage", indicating that BTP have *still* not understood the binary chop algorithm despite having it explained to them by numerous angry computer science professors.

Yeah, we are privileged to have the money and flexibility to get a private jab but we shouldn't have to!

No luck with Tesco:

Pharmacies facing angry patients over Covid jab confusion Up to half of patients coming to some pharmacies are being turned away because they are not eligible.

They're acting like the problem with denying so many vulnerable people a covid vaccine this year is that the information informing us that we're no longer eligible isn't clear enough on the booking website!

The fucking problem is we're being denied vital healthcare!

Last week our pub quiz had about half the usual number of teams and the quizmaster said that literally every one had given Covid as their reason for missing it. Five minutes ago I got a text from someone at my evening class saying he won't be there because he's got Covid. It's everywhere!

I know my experience with trying to get a Covid booster is kind of funny, but I'm so annoyed that it's turned into a test of persistence and executive function. This is preventative healthcare that any decent government should make free and easy to access. The savings massively outweigh the cost!

07.10.2025 13:55 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Ah yeah, I got a paper form with the last one but I just kept it because I didn't think my GP would want it. Well done for getting through the barriers and getting jabbed.

"So basically, tomorrow you and about five other people are going to have to ring me again because that's when my manager's in and I can ask him."

Yesterday, after failing to book a Covid jab with my nearest pharmacy, I tried again with the second-nearest.

Can you guess what happened next?

Yes! Second-nearest also failed to confirm or reject the booking, so after 24 hours I phoned them. They said they don't know if they can do it or not.

Just filed my claim for compensation for the illegal use of my work by Anthropic AI. A past version of myself would maybe find it quite exciting if I told him he would be involved in a worldwide battle against robots. But probably less so when he found out the robots are invisible, tedious twats.

I sort of feel in my heart that leisure centres shouldn't take part in seasonal celebrations (unless you count January fitness kicks). Can't explain why, but it just feels off.

The leisure centre has put up "ghosts" as Hallowe'en decorations but obviously you can only see the faces from certain angles, so it mostly just looks like bits of cloth hanging from the ceiling for no reason

Proposed 'eyesore' bench causes outrage among community Plans for a new artistic bench that have been two years in the making have caused outrage among residents in Botley near an Oxford Brookes campus.

A parish council in Oxford has refused to install a bench on a quiet side street in case people sit on it and get hit by a car

I have complained to BBC about the bias they are displaying, given they interviewed every party leader recently, except @zackpolanski.bsky.social. I suspect nothing will come of it, but it's worth them knowing that people have noticed their obvious bias.

Tesco was what the Pharmadoctor site offered me as an alternative so I went for that when the first one fell through...but obviously they haven't confirmed either so I'll have to ring them tomorrow 😭

IIRC, Boots lets you book on a little calendar that reflects real availability, so I think you'll be fine!

I booked through a thing called Pharmadoctor where the site doesn't know the pharmacy's availability...you have to wonder what the point is tbh.

Rang the pharmacy this afternoon to ask "so do I have an appointment with you in a couple of hours or nah?" and they said "nah" 😭

Apparently they're only doing NHS vaccinations, because the guy who does the private jabs is away all this week. OK, so why couldn't you tell me?!
