Anyone that evaluates anything but moralistic standards is probably not worth taking all that seriously example 28219191.

This doesn't mean the Bolsheviks can't be critiqued but "they were authoritarian" is a moronic critique unless you can find a way to carry out revolution otherwise.

This is obviously bait, but it should be noted that the most successful leftist organisation ever, the Bolsheviks, were characterised by 1) moral purity, 2) lack of compromise with the moderate factions, and 3) vicious infighting and call-outs in the press

Update on Plato Thread:

I actually completed writing it. However I realised that I would simply be summarising a dialogue and that's essentially lazy content. So instead of that, which I have now scrapped, I have decided to combine Classics and Marxism to provide a fresh Marxist perspective.

I meant that in the sense that I didn't expect to get embroiled in an argument. Anyway I cede all my positions as I mentioned earlier and apologise.

I don't know how you extrapolated what I said into "doing nothing" but you're also very clearly upset, so I'll grant an apology, I think my coarseness may have been interpreted as offensive.

Best of luck to you and have a good day.

The point isn't "don't be upset" , it's that there are more productive avenues than this. To be fair it's not just liberals, Marxists in the West have a similar issue with performativism and useless street protests.

However this is just a matter of perspective of course, maybe I'm wrong.

And I get called 7 slurs everytime I get off the airport in the States and yet it's possible to go through life without throwing public tantrums about insults, in my case it's not even unintentional.

I assure you I'm not white. I'm not even from the West. Though I don't blame you for assuming giving the account theme, which is kind of me.

Well that's your prerogative I suppose. Liberal identity emotionalisation annoys me which is why I commented, but Marxists tend to be guilty of this as well except they pretend "class" is somehow a superior category.

While that may be true, you also wouldn't get sarcastically pissy about it to the person who originally posted it without the intention. It's sort of why we have mens rea and actus reus.

That being said I didn't meant to get involved in this so I'll just cut it here.

My point is more that there wasn't really an intention to target Judaism. Admittedly I also don't really care so my perspective is skewed, so I guess from a different PoV you could consider it indirectly offensive by way of assumption.

I'm pretty sure that it's just taking a shot at capitalism.

I like it honestly it's a nice change. I hope they keep up the moderation standards.

Sorry about the delays folks but each one of these threads takes a large amount of effort, so I'll try to be more realistic with the schedule next time!

Slight Euthyphro delay due to sourcing issues.

Unironically think cottagecore is feudal romanticisation with dangerous reactionary implications. It's larpy but I have done quite a bit of thought on this during its heyday.

Anyway watch for the Euthyphro post in a few short hours!

As part of my "Introduction to Plato" threads, the first on the inaugural dialogue of Euthyphro will be coming out later today. Watch as Socrates questions a holy man on his not quite so divine understanding of divinity, and demonstrates his elenchus method.

I have aspergers myself and I would be very interested to read a write-up on the issue.

I've been enjoying the relatively higher quality of content so far.

Gotta be honest for a second, even though left twitter was way better than the reactionary mess it is now I really don't want to go back to a constant stream of Maoist English jokes and low quality memes about liberals.

Want to read Plato but don't know where to start? Alcibiades I is traditional but I recommend Euthyphro.

I recommend John M. Cooper's "Complete Works of Plato." (Much cheaper overall than to buy individual texts)

I will also show off some rare vintages in thread.

The next thread will probably take a break from pre-socratic philosophy to talk about Plato.

Specifically I plan on doing a succinct 'intro to Plato' that goes through successively his Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, Meno & Phaedo. (Phaedo will probably be a two-parter)
