Neurotypical: [A fact about themselves that's quirky in the most beige, unoffensive way possible]

I think the cognitive dissonance swirling in our society of “people who don’t want to/can’t work are bad. work is noble and good and moral” being the same people who will tell you that AI is good “AI will do work people don’t want to do and free us from drudgery”. Like which fucking is it.

Transformed Amsterdam street

Transformed Amsterdam street

It’s not just about what you remove (cars, noise, dirty air). It’s about what you add (people walking, a lot of bike parking, trees, outdoor dining, and room for kids to play safely). Amsterdam: 1986 and today.

Streets for people.

Imagine if everyone pictured here were driving cars as the sole occupant instead of cycling or walking. It'd be much more crowded, noisy, and unpleasant. The next step is to make this the norm.

Cycling is ten times more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities Active travel can help tackle the climate crisis earlier than electric vehicles – even if you swap the car for a bike for just one trip a day.

Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost difference, the air & noise pollution difference, the massive space difference, etc, etc. Via @theconversation.bsky.social

In the winter I run outside when it’s dark outside. I used to wear a reflective vest that ALSO LIGHTS UP.

Drivers still didn’t see me.

If a driver isn’t paying attention, there’s nothing you can wear to make them.

“Cities can be designed in ways that promote walking, providing residents with built-in health benefits, a new study says.

People who live in more walkable cities do indeed get more daily steps, researchers reported.”

Because, obviously.

Seriously, the more evidence the better. #HealthyCities

When I’m walking I stop in more shops, I’m more engaged with more people, my enjoyment goes up - even though I’m just running errands. In a car, it’s just more traffic…boo.

Worth pointing out that transphobia in the UK is a recent thing, and seems to stem almost entirely from a small group of famous people being asked to not make shitty transphobic jokes and them all deciding that anyone who asks them to behave with decency must be a monster.

Trans youth as consistent in their identity as cis youth, study shows A new study has found that gender identity and sexuality remain a largely stable trait, despite claims that trans youth regret transitioning.

19 Aug 25 -- Confounding decades of trans-denial pseudoscience a new study of 900 cis & trans kids tracked from 2013-2024 found gender identity was a “stable trait“ & the trans kids were “no more or less likely” to show or express regret than cis ones. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social

Honestly I sell alcohol for a living and I'd suggest rum, bourbon, cognac or brandy. If you need to serve wine get one sweeter than the dessert -- as others have suggested: Moscato, Muscat Beaumes de Venise or an Italian dolce. Port could do great with chocolate or cherry-based desserts
