@kevinbonham.bsky.social - random #auspol question for you from the cheap seats: is there any discernible relationship between the number of candidates on a preferential single-member ballot paper, and the likelihood of an incumbent winning? Does more names = less likely for the incumbent to win?

I really don't know enough about either framework yet, and it's all still quite messy. The need to figure it all out is increasingly pressing, though!
I'm genuinely in two minds about whether to lean into the new platforms, or just embrace my middle age and quit socials altogether. π

I may have joined a Mastadon server a few years ago, but definitely not an active user.
A think both AT protocol and Fediverse are meant to be better for giving you control of your data, due to both being effectively open source. Relies on the user knowing what is needed to ensure security, though.

AFAIK, the hope with both Bluesky (AT protocol) and Mastadon (Fediverse) is that you will be able to switch to a different platform if/when needed in the future, without losing any connections and content (because it's all built on the same framework). Time will tell if that's true though, I guess.
