There's a recent Big Finish where Rose complains she barely gets any WAP at home. Which to modern ears does sound like yet another reason to leave Mickey.

I'll be there but it will be my first Starfury too. The Facebook group is full of helpful regulars though and it all seems very friendly.

I'm going there for the first time next month for Starfury Flux. I'll let you know how it is!

One of the most amazing things about Jedward is that they were named by the public against their will. Despite originally having a different band name, the public nicknamed them 'Jedward' and relentlessly referred to them as that until they gave in and changed the name.

It's the apparent comfort and confidence in your own skin in these photos that shines through to create beauty, and hopefully always will, whether 52 or 82.

Happy birthday!

In fairness, it turns out they hired an actual paleontologist who's named over a dozen real species, to come up with the designations used in the show.

So they did do due diligence well beyond a google search.

Ah, would you believe I've literally just opened the article in this month's DWM with paleontologist Dr David Hone of Queen Mary University about how he came up with the species names used in The War Between!

His logic for deducing they're temnospondyls is particularly illuminating.

People will often levy the "of its time" apology for it, but in the 70s there were complaints, at least one syndicated region refused to show it, and it draws heavily on a book series roundly condemned in the *1910s* as a white supremacy polemic!

Plus, some scientific names come down to "bill looks a bit like a boot" or "reminds me of Spongebob Squarepants" so I can definitely buy "homo" being used in a compound word to mean "human shaped" if we ever encountered such a thing IRL.

They do say the one at Dragonera (named after the real filming location!) is one of a series of ones found after similarly fatal encounters so they've had a chance to examine them in detail.

I got yelled at a driver for crossing at a pedestrian crossing, well lit with street lights, because they "couldn't see me."

I respectfully suggested that if they couldn't see pedestrians under those circumstances the problem was that they shouldn't be driving, not that I shouldn't be walking.

It's a wild ride! At one point I worked through the night because we had the 'cute idea' to individually calligraphy 200 genuine holly leaves with names in gold ink as place settings, which of course could only be done last minute so they didn't die!

I hope you enjoy every minute, even the chaos!

I also suspect a commentary on the human need to name things and naming as a tool of control.

There's a clear contrast with the way Aquakind haven't even names for their collective, the species that make it up, or even really as individuals.

Do they ever even refer to humans as, well, "humans?"

Also notice the way Salt differentiates between Pierce and Barclay's versions of respect for the dead. The script basically tags Pierce, who came up with "Homo Aqua," as making performative gestures, in contrast to Barclay's brief, wordless, but genuine moment.

I'm pretty sure it is. They establish their scientific name is Homospondyl Erectus, as members of the temnospondyl genus, but that everyone calls them 'Homo Aqua' just because it sounds cool.

The comedian Stanley Baxter, with a wide goofy grin and raised eyebrows that together conspire to narrow his eyes almost out of existence, plays a banjo.

Everyone else correctly (I'm guessing) naming Liotta while I immediately saw Stanley Baxter probably says something about my viewing habits compared to the average person.

I would assume it was a rights situation. The Sontarans are owned by Robert Holmes' estate so they likely just didn't strike a deal until 2011.

It's just like the previous comments about redundancies caused by AI. They've set conditions to depress employment *by design.* Now they're scrambling to try and argue that the means justify the ends.

Got to say, this is all very brave while he's staying in the house of someone who makes up entertainingly horrible things to happen to people for a living.

The trouble with living on a hill is that they are, by and large, surrounded by Not Hill. So even when your house doesn't flood it can still make getting out of, or in this case in to, town problematic.

So it's a cancelled train and a replacement bus dropping as close along the bypass as it dares.

If I had a nickel for every formerly animated Mark Hamill villain role that Jared Leto has ruined in a live action film, I'd have two nickel. Which isn't a lot, but it's unfortunate that it happened twice.
