I'm so pleased for you!
18.10.2025 07:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It's incredibly easy, too, to tell the difference between the sites that actually read the interview in DWM and the ones who've only read the *other* clickbaity headlines.
17.10.2025 23:21 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Social media really gives narcissists new options to tell on themselves.
There's always a "Why doesn't anyone make/sell/provide Thing X!?" post followed by an "I wAsN'T aSkINg FoR aDvIcE!!" when people tell them where they can get themselves Thing X.
As always with narcissists, block and move on.
I've seen Dog Trust say they welcome visitors, even those not intending to adopt, because the dogs always get a thrill of seeing a new face and someone new to play with.
17.10.2025 19:47 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The BBC are accidentally running the subtitles to Mrs Marple over the Mercury Prize, and itโs rather wonderful. A few of lines could plausibly have been written by Jarvis.
16.10.2025 20:58 โ ๐ 2682 ๐ 1028 ๐ฌ 50 ๐ 93If anyone would respond to this by genuinely writing a song to those lyrics, it's Jarvis!
17.10.2025 19:43 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.
About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
12.10.2025 04:59 โ ๐ 9518 ๐ 3736 ๐ฌ 217 ๐ 373Oh, hopefully the Flux convention next March is on your radar though; it looks tremendous!
11.10.2025 15:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Ah! How marvellous!
09.10.2025 12:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It also provided a timely coincidence in shifting the English action almost entirely to Whitby, with lots of location filming there.
Helpful, given I'm also currently reading Doctor Who: Dracula! from @paulmagrs.bsky.social It helps provide a strong mental picture of that novel's setting.
This week I've finally been watching the 1977 Count Dracula. Spookily, by coincidence, I started watched Part 1 11pm on 4th of October... only for the warning locals in the carriage scene to declare midnight on the 4th of October the exact date when evil holds sway over the Earth...
05.10.2025 11:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0It's a very... something take on the character.
Special points for the wardrobe budget being so small they seem to be reduced to having the cast bring anything vaguely Victorian from home.
Pah! They badly need to install a How to Milk a Skarasen diorama!
28.09.2025 17:15 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I saw it in the Olympia in Dublin and it was spellbinding. As much about the magic of theatre as it is about a haunted house.
28.09.2025 17:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For a moment there I thought you wrote that they showed Zygons AT the centre! That would have been quite something!
28.09.2025 17:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0By coincidence I only just did this the other day!
28.09.2025 16:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That Lorne is pure magic!
I was lucky enough to meet Andy Hallett at a con back in the early days when conventions were all but unknown outside the US. I bet he'd have loved this!
Maybe others are the same, in which I do recommend they put that aside and embrace it. I've never once thought that about anybody *else's* linktree. Just that they were handy. At the end of the day if they're already on your bio, they want to know.
28.09.2025 16:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Bio word counts are generally so stingey it can be almost impossible to list individual links. I finally broke and got a linktree to put on all my socials after years of a weird hangup where I thought it would seem... arrogant? Like I shouldn't think anyone would care.
28.09.2025 15:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0As someone who defended Barrowman for perhaps longer than I should have, the remarkable thing is how it was far from an unsalvageable situation for him when this is all started. But he's made himself unemployable because his ego makes him incapable of opening his mouth without making it worse.
28.09.2025 12:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That new Barrowman car crash interview is the usual mix of strawmen, disingenuousness, self-justification, self-pity, and narcissism I've come to expect over the last few years. Though him hoping women now feel less secure making complaints than they did a few years ago is an unpleasant new wrinkle.
28.09.2025 12:48 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah, quite apart from the on-set stuff on various jobs, he seems to regularly bring that 'Let's find this guy!' energy to customer service interactions, like he genuinely things an internet pile-on of the poor guy who happened to be behind the counter is going to help anything.
28.09.2025 12:22 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't think Barrowman worries too much about if he's being fair to people. Just last recently his first reaction to not immediately getting a day one call to book him for a just announced convention was to go on social media demanding fans boycott it.
28.09.2025 12:17 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The entire reason he can't get much work now is that he *still* maintains he did nothing wrong, and would do it again tomorrow. Which is bound to put people off. I'm also not aware of him making any apologies to the crew, just to Gardner and to the co-stars (who didn't even mind in the first place)
28.09.2025 12:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I don't think I've ever seen anyone label him a 'predator.' It's more that he comes across as someone who thinks there are two type of people in the world: people who matter, and the 'little people,' and he's more than happy to treat the 'little people' like crap and act offended when they complain.
28.09.2025 12:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Has to be attention seeking, surely? There's no real path to Burnham replacing Starmer before the next election, even if Starmer does fall.
I've even got to wonder if she's trying to undermine Burnham a little - I can't imagine him exactly welcoming this sudden endorsement
Maker's Mark somehow always manages to surprise you with how hard it hits no matter how times it's hit you before.
Very pleasantly floating around the room here.
Derek Jacobi was the Master, and Sian Phillips had a guest role in an episode last year. That's off the top of my head but I'm sure there are others.
