I just got out of D&D and am finally watching The Speech and I got as far as "these are not hands that have been allowed to hold power" before I burst into tears

The wonderful old-Twitter experience of a global group chat during a live event or breaking news is a thing you can't do on Threads bc of its trash algorithms and you can't do on X bc it's a Nazi propaganda weapon, but it's really happening on Bsky now and I hope more holdouts start to discover that

I wish more people knew that there’s virtually no way to prove media or text is AI-generated unless you created it yourself. β€œAI detectors” aren’t proof. Among other glaring issues, this makes it more difficult for journalists to report on media being AI-generated even when it seems obvious

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

It’s essentially an emergency that you see One Battle After Another in the cinema immediately. Sean Penn will win an Oscar & it has the best car chase in many years. And those aren’t in the top 3 best things about the film. Jesus shitting Christ.

I know this is left field but this entire line of thought is incredible proof that there is one huge group chat and we’re not in it.

Thank you! This is a double exposed view from a train window. You can see the rail line in the image. There was reflections coming off the window and it was misted up as it was mid-winter, i think that’s giving it the painterly effect. Thanks again.

Loved this bit from the recent Jeff Buckley doc. I wish there was video footage from that meeting between Nusrat-saab & Jeff but this story from Joan Wasser is joyful and heartbreaking at the same time. The image taken by Jack Vartoogian is one of my favourite shots ever taken.
