The implications reverberate.
This is lovely! Thank you!

The APs helped a close friend get through an illness. Even though they arenβt a gamer, Paul and the table made them laugh, at a time when laughter was hard.

I still remember a glorious fight on the table between a party of seven well painted minis from my old collection v. a salt shaker.
It was theater of the mind with book marks, not a grid hop.

14.02.2026 19:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Defiantly include @malcolmcraig.bsky.social in the chat! Iβve read his stuff, I think he has a lot of good thoughts on this topic. I'm about half way through Hot War.
14.02.2026 18:44 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm not surprised. A lot of this stuff is literally "gnostic." Need more?
14.02.2026 18:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This conversation needs beer and a stack of books and a nice (conventional) fire. Itβs grim, but we are discussing the particular way itβs grim.
14.02.2026 18:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0When natural events kick up 100 times more earth than even the most favorable guess of man made nuclear displacement, the math gets weird, fast. Europe had the year with out summer. That is probably the best example we have for the concept Of nuclear winter. To be clear none of it is good.
14.02.2026 18:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The whole idea of how a nuclear war would be fought has shifted Repeatedly. In the cobalt bomb era, the idea was "poison the land and cause as much fall out as possible. We moved on to neutron bombs with NO fall out. Kill the people, capture the cities. Mt. St Helenβs changes a whole lot of things.
14.02.2026 18:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If I am remembering correctly, he has said that "it would definitely not be drifting snow and freezing conditions, but there would be something in the zone of effects that are called "nuclear winter."" The strike package would have a lot to do with it. Air, ground or sun-surface detonation.

Cresson is an interesting guy to talk with.
Life After Doomsday by Bruce Clayton is an old standard.
Nuclear War Survival Skills by Cresson H. Kearny is another good one. There are a ton of other texts, out there, but you have to keep in mind that they are actually educated guesses. Some more educated than others.
This is really astounding!
