Oooft a seven stemmed Western Red Cedar (that we couldn't resist playing in!) Their basal sprouting ability is a neat strategy to survive stem damage in early life e.g. by snow, browsing or injury. The tree compensates by sending up multiple vertical shoots from the lower trunk. #ThickTrunkTuesday
