Telling people to “tough it out” when they’re sick is ableism.

Saying that autism is “unacceptable” is eugenics.

Bragging about the strong people who don’t take meds or vaccines? It infers that those who need medications are weak.

It’s all eugenics. This regime sees disabled people as less than.

Really looking forward to even tighter restrictions on pain relief for people with uteruses (the most in pain demographic) because hypothetical fetuses might hypothetically get autism. Meanwhile autistic people have chronic pain. And gestate autistic babies.

Disabling Intelligences This book discusses the influences of eugenics on the AI industry and the impacts of AI opportunism on disabled people.

Why are the negative consequences of so-called AI so consistently directed at disabled and racialized people? Disabling Intelligences details the ongoing effects of the eugenicist mindset on our corporate ventures and our interpersonal relationships. link.springer.com/book/9783032...

We rarely see the impact we have on others’ lives.

For us, it’s often a tiny act or the number one added to some viewcount.

For them, it’s the kindness that sparked hope in life or the reading that infused their existence with new meaning.

I've gotten good at making myself *seem* calm, distant & emotionally flat as a survival strategy for interacting w/ the healthcare system as a disabled person of a marginalized gender. But it's become a habit spilling over into other parts of my life & I have a hard time externally showing emotion.

Reminder that behind a social media avatar is a real person with thoughts & feelings. Within the disability community MANY of us have sensitive or dysregulated nervous systems.

Be kind … these online connections are a literal lifeline & fighting or harassment can and does lead to physical harm

#Christmas calendar for #Canadians with #disabilities behind every door we are reminded that we are unhirable, not worthy to feed, not human enough for a home, not loved enough for mental health and drug support, vilified as mouches, frauds and told to vote for social murderers.

“They sold your bodies downriver, because your bodies, when they are sick and disabled, are profit centers. Are we figuring it out yet?”

We keep telling you: ANYONE can become disabled at ANY time.

Nondisabled people mistakenly think that statement is referring to the imagined "horror" of inhabiting a disabled body--not the terror of the systems that *permit* us to live (while profitable) or condemn us to die (once "burdensome") 🙃

This is why it’s important to understand how lived experience and socialisation may have affected us. Negative reactions to our Autistic selves may have led us to suppress traits that would support autism diagnosis. They may only emerge when we’re stressed or when we’re alone and relaxed.

It's Time to Throw Away the 'Coulda, Woulda, Shouldas' and Practice Radical Rest When you're chronically ill you can't push your body the way non disabled people do. You have to learn to rest. There's few words more damaging to us than the 'coulda, woulda, shouldas'

ICYMI: This week’s article is about radical rest, harmful inner monologues and the ways in which we gaslight ourselves & push our bodies beyond what they’re capable of.

When society makes it clear that productivity is the marker of a person’s worth - is it any surprise we struggle to slow down?

I’ve lost two good friends who had large & active social media followings.

Families read what you post. They look to social media for comfort & to understand their loved one better

Please be kind & respectful when posting about someone who has passed away. Consider their loved one reading it.

Square graphic with a pale gray background, and a red question mark in the center.

Black text at the top reads, "Asking the TPGA Community!"

Larger black overlaying the question mark reads, "Do you have advice for a sound-sensitive autistic adult who shares an apartment wall with a very loud autistic child?"

Small black text at the bottom reads, "@ThinkingAutism"

Asking the TPGA community: Do you have no-fault coping or strategic advice for a sound-sensitive autistic adult who shares an apartment wall with a very loud autistic child who bangs on the wall a lot? Thanks in advance.

Academic authors 'shocked' after Taylor & Francis sells access to their research to Microsoft AI Authors claim they have not been told about the AI deal, were not given the opportunity to opt out and are receiving no extra payment.

Can report there is still no opt-out. I'm part of a team of #milhist scholars that has voided its contract for a 4th ed of American Military History with Routledge because T&F sold out to Microsoft rather than protect its authors' IP. 🗃️ #academicsky www.thebookseller.com/news/academi...

It’s entirely possible he thinks he’s getting one over on us, but the entire reason we have this basket and fill it with blankets is for moments like this.
