TBH, I didn't realise dial-up was still a thing. Still, find memories. That modem connection sound still lives in my brain. Now it gets filed away for the unlikely event it's played as part of a pub quiz.

The current US administration seems to be speed-running making other countries leaders in science and tech.

If there's another pandemic in the next 3 years, the USA is set to become a leprosy colony.

China stops it via draconian IP blocks that also have collateral damage.

And yet, some Chinese people still get through via VPNs.

There are no surgical technologies that could solve this problem. I guess the government could just turn the Internet off...

As fast as they get a court order to shut one down, three will spring up in its place. And, also, have you not heard of a VPN?

This is the kind of badly thought-out policy that gets us the UK Internet age restricted content.

The tax authorities can go after trade in other countries that they have no visibility of?

The BBC is telling on itself with that notification.

For them, political calculations and their impact on public opinion are more important than objective reality.

How will the government know which transactions are for gambling and which ones aren't?

And what's to stop foreign companies just not playing ball? Why would a US company willingly declare transactions when they don't have to?

It was technology that allowed the offshores to operate while avoiding tax.

What's the tech that's going to fix the problem?

People who were there at the time will know this.

Gambling used to be taxed. But then offshore companies set up which avoided the tax. So the UK government removed the tax to make national bookies competitive.

Can't put that genie back in the bottle without solving a much larger issue...

If Elon wants to trash his own brand, then I don't care because there are now plenty of alternatives.

But if the low info people are now turned off EVs all together, that affects us all.

The great thing about inflation is that even if you don't track it or report on it, people still feel it.

It can also be easily tracked by 3rd parties, which confirms people's suspicions.

Inflation is undeniable. Like death and taxes.

The Trump lot may be desperate and stupid enough to do it. Then she's free to name Trump as a wrong'un.

And when the council gets taken to tribunals? Tax payers will be funding the payouts.

And then Reform will begin campaigning to repeal the civil rights legislation because of "vexatious" claims.

The end up with a society of hate. And people will wonder why none of our real problems are fixed...
